Maybe it is more than money with Berry. Maybe he is pissed about that insurance clause the Chiefs were wanting him to pay.

Reid is backing Berry so people shouldn't be to upset.

Reid's a player's coach and he always has been. His reaction would never have been in question. But again, if Berry tweaks a hammy or that secondary doesn't gel, I bet you Reid's not gonna think "oh well, EB is gonna make bank so it's all good", nor will his teammates. |
Yesterday it was Ford - who is the worst player on the team-the guy is dumb, can't tackle, has no heart, scared to hit, and has no talent except a quick first step.
Today it is Berry. He is a selfish prick that hates KC and their fans, only cares about money, lazy, skipping camp so he will be fresh for his "new" team next year, and is basically a disrespectful mercenary that is only playing for a paycheck. Got to love the CP daily dog piles. i wonder who it will be tomorrow? |

And I can't blame him for sitting out. I'm sure I'd do the same thing if I was in his shoes. No one wants to be at TC and I'm sure Houston would have done the same thing if we didn't strike a deal with him while he was on the tag |

If coaches believed that teams were better off by healthy players not participating in camp, then healthy players wouldn't be participating in camp. Coaches know it's important to have these guys here and every day that Berry misses hurts the team and what they're trying to accomplish together. |

So.....Is there any news on training camp, other than Berry isn't there? FFS, this has been going on for 100 posts. Thanks for derailing the training camp thread DJ.

Jamaal Charles is off the PUP and has re-joined the team. Stupid ass; he should stay home so he doesn't get hurt. Gotta worry about himself, afterall. Business decision for a dude with no guaranteed money this year who could get cut next year. |

He's supposed to be the emotional team leader, and I have higher expectations of him. He's just always seemed like he sees himself as a football player who plays for the Chiefs vs. "a Chief". That's fine if he feels that way because it's the truth, but he's no Ed Reed (just in terms of leadership). If he's not really that type of leader, the he's been an underachiever on the field and in the locker room. I love Berryv despite all of this. He was one of my all-time favorite prospects and I JIMP the day we drafted him. Him somehow ending up in a position where he walks is just the epitome of how dissapponting his career has been in many different ways. |

If Maclin contract ended last year and be didn't show up to TC, I'm sure the coaches would understand. Reid has been around the game for a few decades. He's seen more than his fair share of career ending/altering injuries. He understands the business side of things and why players hold out. I think his comments regarding Berry were authentic. He knows that one training camp practice could end Berry's career so why should Berry risk it? He knows the scheme, is physically fit, and the coaches trust him to be ready when the season starts.
