Ok, just spit-balling here, but it wouldn't totally surprise me if Berry never sees the field again. Maybe he's had his fill of injuries and is looking for some sort of retirement buy-out that both he and the Chiefs are comfortable with. Something HAS to be going on as several weeks of day-to-day availability just ain't normal.

This would also lend more credence to the interest in Thomas....maybe even to the tune of restructuring Houston (as Houston would be doing a "favor" for the Chiefs, and more importantly, doing a "favor" for his close buddy, Berry)?

There's just too much weirdness going on with Berry's status to think that the only issue at hand is simply a heel injury that defies healing.
