Said this before in this thread, Royals are taking all the public heat when the Chiefs want the same thing

The Chiefs are good and would probably easily get approved if the Royals weren't attached...the Royals if anything will drag the Chiefs down.

what do the Chiefs want out of the deal? improvements?

They're gonna ask for a new stadium with surrounding stuff too, you don't have a 50 year old stadium, a dynasty run with a transcendent player and not ask for the new stadium...

It'll be the house Mahomes built.

Uhh, yeah. The Chiefs stand to gain a TON from this. They don’t have to relocate. The Royals are gonna leave and they can develop the entire Truman Sports Complex to be whatever they want it to be. The difference is people care about the Chiefs and Mahomes is the guy.....the Royals are a piss poor organization that looks like they are asking for stuff while they can't even be competent.

RockChalk 06-29-2023 11:28 AM

I don't care one bit about this franchise anymore. We had our run, but draft after draft since 2015 (maybe even earlier) has just been full of crap. We whiffed on last year and there's really not one young guy on the current roster that I would be disappointed if we traded him.

I would be slightly optimistic if we cleaned house, but JJ just seems like Dayton part 2. **** Sherman, let the team move if he wants to try to force taxpayers hands for something that is only going to make the team more valuable for him to sell.

Mecca 06-29-2023 11:30 AM

I'd be much more forgiving if this was year 1 of a new regime...it's not.

Do teams that have 50 year old stadiums, probably need new ones? Yea they probably do, it just looks bad when you are asking for that when you are in the midst of being historically awful.

"We are just itching to spend money, but these young guys suck". Quite the comment there, Sherm

Itching so bad that in probably the greatest FA class of all time they signed Jordan Lyles and Ryan Yarbrough.

None of them are on pace to have one of the 5 worst years in the history of baseball are they?

KCUnited 06-29-2023 11:53 AM

Royals fan gauges success in how much money the owner is able to save each season

The farm system is crap. Trying to rebuild entirely on drafting and developing with this leadership as things stand, fat chance in hell.
