Not sure who the Royals could add for a low cost that would be better than the combination of Jarrod Dyson and bringing in the hottest player with Brett Eibner, Reymond Fuentes, Jose Martinez, and Paulo Orlando.

Drew Stubbs

Then we all know Duncan is Dayton Moore. :)

What is "low cost?"
I hear this guy named Alex Rios is available. Has postseason experience.

Drew Stubbs
Marlon Byrd

Both would fit that bill as guys who have proven MLB success and who would fit as guys who always play vs. LH pitchers and who get a game or two a week against RH pitchers.

Insanely dumb article: "KC Royals one of the worst teams to win the World Series since 2000"

How many holes can be poked in this turd?

I find it funny that:
1. It bases the batting average as the only indicator for a good team...
2. Since 2000 they weren't even the worst team batting average wise in the AL.

So how do you come to that conclusion that they were the worst team since 2000 using only one metric, and even that metric shows that they weren't the worst lolololol

@FlannyMLB: Louis Coleman is designated for assignment to make room on 40-man. #Royals for Kennedy.

Hope he isn't claimed and is back

Stubbs is utterly finished.

@rustindodd: One note: If Kennedy takes the opt-out clause after the 2017 season, he will receive a $6M buyout from the Royals.

This may be a reason he opts out

Thats..... weird. So, he wouldn't need to beat 49 over the last 3 years, he would need to beat 43 over the last 3 years.

Heyward has the same provision.

His was a 'deferred signing bonus' that triggers if he opts out (and it's a $20 million windfall, all but assuring that he does).

Can we please just do away with guaranteed contracts already?

The power wielded by the MLBPA is just astonishing to me. No cap AND guaranteed contracts. Pretty sweet gig.

alnorth 01-29-2016 11:38 AM

The weird thing is that if any sport needs guaranteed contracts, its football with the short careers and injury risk.
