I have no idea, IMO we should be more like #8. But we get the Blue Blood bump, I'll admit.

Why? Ppl win the championship every year. Nobody has went 73-9 before. Those are my same thoughts with our conference championships streak. We are chasing UCLAs streak of 13. If we can do that, more ppl are going to remember that than winning a natl title or a final four. I didnt think much about it when we were at 5 or 6, because i didnt really think it was a reality but now it is.

I can't believe this is a serious post. Best regular season record over a title?

Absolutely. Hundreds and hundreds of teams win the title. Nobody goes 73-9. Nobody in history. Historic achievements is what sports is all about, leaving your legacy. IMO.

We all remembered the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins, can anybody remember off the top of their head who won the 1980 Super Bowl? No. Cuz nobody gives a shit now.

The Bulls and Dolphins both won championships.

The Royals won championships in 1980 and 1985. I don't know when we had our best record ever, but I know it wasn't either of those seasons...nor do I care. Do you think Kentucky cares more about their undefeated season last year than they do about their championships?

Nobody remembers that Pats undefeated season up until they got beaten by the Giants in the SB after the 2007 (?) season.

They don't? I guess I have different barometers of success. I'd rather do something that NOBODY or VERY FEW have done than hundreds of teams have done.

I'm not talking about JUST the best record or a good record, I'm talking about breaking HISTORICAL records. There has been 28 teams finish the regular NCAA Basketball season undefeated, so I would not consider that a historical achievement. There has been NO team win more than 13 consecutive conference titles. KU is currently Tied for 2nd with Gonzaga for consecutive conference titles, and the WCC isn't really a major conference. KU has a chance to go down in history for this feat if they can just win 2 more. Hell, they already have. Only ONE other team has won more consecutive conference titles. Conversely, there have been HUNDREDS of NCAA champions.

I've always thought differently of the pros... the simple reason being they're getting paid loads of money to win championships, but also because the level of competition ramps up significantly in the postseason. I don't care if the Chiefs win 10 in a row because I don't care about beating those 10+ loss teams... the Avalanche won 50 games a couple seasons ago, which was a lot of fun, but the playoffs are so much more intense.

CFB is about the same in terms of the regular season, unless maybe you're in the SEC West... several non-competitive regular season games, if not the vast majority. The difference is that I don't think the level of competition skyrockets in the postseason.

CBB though... well, Kansas is playing @ISU and Kentucky this week, they've probably already played their best game of the season and play that team again. Yeah, if I was a Kentucky fan, I wouldn't care about beating a bunch of SEC garbage teams....but, I enjoy KU's regular seasons to the point where I can't say it's all about the National Championships, especially when there's what, 6 teams that have won more than KU, and only 4 of those who have won one recently? So, they aren't UConn or Duke... yeah, I'll enjoy all of the conference championships and the great games in the other ~4 months, and hope for the best in March.

Yeah, NBA teams don't even give a full effort in basically all of their regular season games (with the exception of maybe the 4th Q of close ones), so I don't think it's comparable to the NCAA at all.
