Kevin Walter?

Nope.

Ryan Clark?

Nope.

Chester Pitts?

Nope.

We're too busy re-signing our own scrubs.

I agree whole heartedly. Walter was the real stinger to me. We should've found a way to get that done. Otogwe should've already been done. The second Pioli realized the bidding was too high on the top tier guys he should've been on the phone with Otogwe's agent.

Not ready to flip shit about this...
There wasn't much help to begin with in Free Agency this year and I'm fine with the team not overpaying to bring someone in.

Most of these guys are either 30 or approaching 30 and there will be better, cheaper options available in the Draft.

Would Kevin Walter be nice? Sure... But Golden Tate would be better.
Iupati, Ducasse, Berry, Nate Allen, Chad Jones...All look like better options than aging vets who, in some cases, are going to cost you big coin.

I'm okay with it. Would like to see them at least make a run at Atogwe though.

You act as if those guys will be there when we draft.

I know there is no cap this year, but if it were equivalent to the cap last year, are we $80~million under the cap right now? Our pay roll is just over $40 million and the cap was $124 million (Something like that) last year.

What the **** are they saving their money on, a controlling share of the Patriots or something?

There's no sense throwing ungodly amounts of money to guys because they're the only ones available. I'm glad they didn't pursue Peppers for 90 million. I'm glad they didn't go after Dansby since he's now making more than Ray Lewis amongst others equally high profile ILB's.

Kevin Walters is a guy we should've went after and been willing "overpay" a little bit. Otogwe is another guy we need to get in here and get signed.

Honestly though, at this point the only way they're really going to piss me the **** off is if they let Chris Chambers slip away. I don't care what he costs, he's proven his value to us.

Haley would be looking like a dip**** over that 22 guys off the street bullshit if it wasn't for Chris ****ing Chambers. GET THE MAN SIGNED. TODAY!

I too would be pissed if he gets away for a reasonable amount. I would pay him whatever it takes to be here for the next two and maybe three years. He worked his ass off to get open, fought for the ball in the air, came back to MC when the play broke down, adjusted beautifully to horribly underthrown balls, blocked well and allowed Charles to take it the distance on runs to his side and showed consistent hands and was Cassels only reliable target.

If we let his get away, a little more of the homer in me will die

He's 31-32 years old. WR's play into their mid to upper 30's all the time. He's proven his value to OUR organization. I'd pay him big money if that's what it took. He's one of the very few assets this team has. 4 million a year? 5 million a year? Fine. He's earned it AFAIC.

Exactly. The time to break the bank is when you just went 8-8 and are a couple players from 11-5. Build the core 1st then go spend the $.

We'll have a chance at quite a few of those players.
We have a shot at Berry...
The 2nd Round will give us an option to draft an Arrelious Benn, Marshawn Gilyard, Chad Jones or Nate Allen.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see us come away with two of them.
If we don't...it won't be because the opportunity wasn't there.

bowener 03-06-2010 05:12 PM

So, I guess rolle is gone. What is more important is his pay now and how that could affect a contract with Berry if the Chiefs draft him.

Filed to ESPN: Giants reach agreement with S Antrel Rolle -- 5 year deal for $37 million, including $15 million gtd.
From Schefter's twitter.

His contract won't have anything to do with Eric Berry's. It's all slotting in the draft.

BossChief 03-06-2010 05:16 PM

Berry will be getting paid almost double what the highest paid safety in the NFL makes if we pick him at 5.

I dont care about it and it wouldnt hold me back, but I thought I would put that out there.
