Not bad for the Giants with only a little over 6 guaranteed

RealSNR 03-12-2014 12:23 PM

He's getting paid like a top 12-16ish starting guard.

I hope Dorsey has a plan, because I'd INSTANTLY throw that money at him if it meant not burning a 1st round pick on his replacement.

That's ****ing it? Bullshit that we didn't sign him.

That's it? I was speculating that he'd get more than Asomoah but I guess I forgot about the Pioli factor.

I think our FO believes that they could improve at his position and that's the real reason why they let him go. They want an OG that can pass protect as well, not just a run blocker like Schwartz was. Eli Manning is still going to get killed.

The Franchise 03-12-2014 12:25 PM

Schwartz is playing RT for the Giants.

Ok, so Manning is truly going to die next season, lol. Schwartz couldn't handle interior speed rushers, how the hell is he going to do outside?

BossChief 03-12-2014 12:36 PM

That's NOTHING for a guy that can play multiple positions on the OL at a high level.

NOTHING.

I just hope the reason they let him walk was because of the faith they have in our OL depth and not because they want to burn a high pick on a ****ing guard.

I know, I just read that too.

One thing I saw last night reading Bob Gretz articles was that he got the feeling that Geoff saw himself as no longer a Chief as soon as the playoff game was over. So maybe he wasn't staying no matter.

Zach Martin, lol. Just be ready for it.

I bet money we are drafting O line in the first round. Besides Beadles, the FA market is thin at guard and Andy loves his fat guys.... Unless we make a move on a center and decide to move Hudson to his natural position- it's looking more and more like Swanson or Mathews might be a Chief

It's just always been his dream to play for the New York Giants. There was no possibility whatsoever that the Chiefs could have re-signed Brandon Carr Geoff Schwartz

ct 03-12-2014 12:46 PM

shit...well that's disappointing.

I admit thought when I saw the RT plan it was gonna be more than that. I'd have paid him that easy to play start at RG or LG, plus emergency RT in a pinch.

RealSNR 03-12-2014 12:47 PM

Always look on the bright side of life, I guess.

Zack Martin isn't 28 or however old Danny Watkins was.

OldSchool 03-12-2014 01:03 PM

The only reasons I can think of as to why we weren't able to re-sign Schwartz are:

1. He didn't want to play here and wanted to play for NY.

2. Our FO and coaches want a dominant OL, not just a passable one and were prepared to let Schwartz go in favor of drafting a better prospect this year in a draft that is very strong along the OL. They may also think that we might already have an answer in-house.

Only things I can come up with for not getting a deal done with Schwartz.
