With his cap number you'd have to give him a new contract for it to work.

They can afford him if they cut Sorensen

You could do some restructuring to make it work...

He'll be 30 in May and wants a long term deal. Not happy with his $8.5M base salary this year. (Last year of his current contract.) About to be fined by Seahags for missing practice. Openly asking another team to trade for him. Smart money says he won't land with the Chiefs.

Maybe but he knows if he goes to a Superbowl and makes some plays he could get another 10 mil on that last contract.

I see the lack of interest on the Chiefs part. By most accounts, Seattle wants a lot. The Chiefs aren't going to want to give up the store for a rent-a-player. And I doubt they want to sign a soon-to-be 30 player to a mega contract. Not with the vacuum of EB's contract sucking on the salary cap. I have no idea how Thomas would respond to a trade with the Chiefs. But based on his current behavior, he doesn't seem like a team player. And I'm pretty sure Andy isn't going to mess up the locker room karma & current win streak with a potential malcontent.

I’m all in on this idea now.

We can win a ****ing SB with Thomas, Berry, and Sorensen down the stretch. Go for it.

Here's a question. Who'll be ready to play first, Berry or Sorensen? If something doesn't happen soon, it just might be Dirty Dan. I wouldn't give up more than a 2nd and maybe 6th or 7th and only if we have a reasonable 3 year deal in place. We've already got too much money tied up in aging/broke players.

Pretty sure if you make that deal you are signing him to a new deal.
