I think this is relatively reasonable - thank you Catfish - You seem nice.

Well to be honest nobody is going to trade for him.

Which is why I'd rather use the roster spot on our deep WR or TE corps. McKinnon, CEH and Pacheko plus the fullback is honestly fine. Hell I've seen more out of Fleet-Davis despite his almost fumble.

NEWSFLASH!!..both Ceh and Jet are walking injuries who are very unlikely to make it through the whole year unscathed..so suggesting we just go with them plus a rookie would be a very naive risk imo. Jones and Pacheco's aggressive inside running today forced the defense to focus on stopping the run and low and behold the play action leaves Fountain wide open and he takes it inside the ten which sets up the second touchdown. Ceh & Jet are not those types of backs.

Jones isn't making the team unless they decide to keep him over McKinnon, or unless they decide not to carry a fullback. They've never kept more than 3 RBs, have they?

If he can't catch the ball and isn't good in pass pro he doesn't have a role on this team. IMO it's more puzzling that he was signed than it would be if he was released.

Sofa King 08-26-2022 07:32 AM

We can keep 4 RB's now that our 4th TE is hurt. So this is a non issue if they want to keep him.

Anyway I've been studying more Rojo film since he was confirmed on the 53 man roster and here are some thoughts.

1. I can say with 100 percent certainty that he's lightyears better than CEH & Jet at punching in TD's inside the red zone. He scored a ton of those for Tampa using his size and strength and we haven't had a back with this skill since Kareem left. And when you look at the great year James Connor had with Zona you'll find he only got 700 yards on the ground but was deadly punching the ball in from near the goalline.

2. The notion "he can't catch" is a myth. In 2019 he got 40 targets and caught 31 of them for 309 yards. Then in 2020 he got 42 targets and caught 28 balls for 165 yards and a TD. He looks very good at catching dump offs in the flat and he's excellent in the screen game too.

3. In both 2019 and 2020 he got 1000 yards from scrimmage.

4. He has a good stiff arm..likes the stutter step, hurdle and spin moves so as much as he's a physical runner he does have some tricks In his bag.

5. He's got that Damian Williams quality about him where he can be having a quiet day and then all of sudden he breaks off a big play.

All in all if Rojo remains on this roster for the season I believe him and Pacheco can be special. Rojo has all the tools to be a dominant back in this league..he just needs to regain his confidence and be given an opportunity to shine imo.

What do you make of his blocking?

Well it's obviously not his strength but I think there's potential there to improve.

Eleazar 08-31-2022 07:00 AM

I'm glad they kept him, though a little surprised they kept 4 RBs.

Think his main duties going to be short yardage and the closer when we are looking to run the clock. Which is a much needed skill that we did not have last year.

I think him & Pacheco will be the main guys in the redzone. When you have backs with that size and strength to push the pile it can really put a defense in a hole.

Exactly.

I think Clyde and Rojo are going to be your primary ball carriers with Pacheco and Mckinnon mixed in. You'll probably see all of them in the RZ from time to time but I want to see Rojo get most of the carries. I could see him getting a lot of TDs this year that way

So you think they'll actually run it in the RZ instead of doing some weird ass trick pass with a lot of motion that results in a false start? Or instead of a shovel to Kelce?
