It may have poisoned the well here where they just OBJ it and let him walk. |
Nah. They'll tag him and hold him until some team gives us compensation. Looking at all the fringe tier players that got dealt for day 2 picks this go around he might even fetch a 1st+ with how dumb and desperate GMs have become

Plus the tag would cost the Chiefs 33/34 million off the cap. They're not doing that during FA. |
Sure they are. They have plenty of money for the first wave even with a tag of Jones.
|
Again, you've gotta be pretty certain to have a trade done before you do it, otherwise you end up ****ed with him on the tag.
I don't think anyone is gonna trade a 1 plus give him 3 years 90 million. Similar to the whole OBJ thing, they may not wanna deal with his agent again. |

Fowler saying here they can't afford to tag him.

Lawl. Just watched the Bears give a second and 24.5 million AAV to Montez Sweat, a fringe 2nd tier EDGE. Unless Jones falls completely off the wagon, some GM desperate to make a splash will do business.

And they let Orlando walk bc they knew he didn't have value. That showed itself in FA. |
He's certainly earned it. Probably even more valuable than CJ moving forward anyway. I'd love to keep 'em both though. ;)
