Can the defending world champion Cardinals win an "all or nothing" game 5 on the road against the best team in baseball (at least recordwise) and arguably their best pitcher? If so, then we'll play in San Francisco on Sunday. If the Nationals can beat Wainwright in this type of situation, then they are the "better team" and deserve to move on to the NLCS.

I agree that it feels good to have him on the mound, but I would feel a whole lot better if we could find a way to put up some crooked numbers against Gio. We can't afford to let him get comfortable. Offensively, he is not a good match up for us.

They either score 12 runs or they look like tonight and can't hit for shit. Even with the two blowup games, most of the team is batting in the low .200s or lower in the series. Only Freese and Craig are hitting for a high average. You just can't win like that.

This has been a frustrating season in many ways, and this series has been a microcosm of that. They win two blowouts, lose two close games (completely blowing one of them) and then get blown out, unless a miracle happens.

If you keep going to elimination games it's bound to happen sometime.

At least it's not to a douchebag team like the Reds or Brewers.

yeah, we don't have any history with the Nationals. Losing to the Brewers last year would have sucked so bad. Instead we got to celebrate on their home turf. They mortgaged their future and we still beat them. Getting to do that and move on to the World Series was pretty cool.

Since 2000 there have been 10 different World Series Champs out of the 12 possible series's. Only repeats were the Yankees and us out of 32 teams. Thats 66% of teams that havent got to taste that sweet WS championship champagne.

Since 2000 we have been to the playoffs 9 times out of those 12 years.

Yadi has been clutch enough in his career I got no beef with him trying to park one in the bleachers there.

The heart of our order has been absolutely terrible. Looking at belt high meatballs and flailing away at pitches they can't hit. Top of the order will come up in the next couple innings so one more chance.

Of the four runs the Cards scored tonight so far, only one has come on a base hit, and that was on Holliday's seeing-eye double while reerun fumbled around in left field and let Beltran score. The other three runs came on a wild pitch, walk and groundout. It's tough to come back from a 6-run deficit when you don't hit the ball in those situations.

I would say I am surprised by this but there is a reason you guys won it last year. Sports are amazing. If the Nationals had broken a 5 to 5 tie the place would be going nuts and it would feel like the game is over. Since they blew a 6 to 0 lead it feels like its destined to be tied.
