I didn't have time to read all the responses - but my F1 fans (the few watching) said, Bowyer knocked out my boy...They were talking about oversteer - understeer LMAO

Gotta love them with their F1 terminology. They watch NASCAR for the giggles

chefsos 06-01-2014 03:04 PM

LMAOThey didn't talk about Kyle chasing Bowyer past the field under caution, trying to retaliate, while his radio was blaring, "Stop, Kyle. Kyle! Kyle! Stop!"

chefsos 06-01-2014 03:09 PM

Can't help but think all those guys who pitted are gonna eat up the ones who did not. Cluster****, incoming.

chefsos 06-01-2014 03:12 PM

Never mind. 48 checks out.

They are watching the race from outside of the U.S. They are not listening to radio chatter. A few subscribe to Race Buddy, However, I read two posts, and stopped when I read oversteers and understeers.

chefsos, Did something happen in the cars corners?

Not sure what you mean. Please clarify your query and resubmit.

Dylan 06-01-2014 03:31 PM

Oh well, Bowyer apologized to Kyle during the post race interview.

Things happen.

chefsos 06-01-2014 03:37 PM

Yeah, what he said is pretty much what I saw. Kyle had a little piece of fender outside him, and the spotter said, "clear." (Assuming FOX had the audio and video synched up here) He wasn't. Pounded Kyle into the wall good.

That chase down the front straight was funny, though.

Did the crash take place shortly after the cars came off the corner?

I was curious why they used the terms oversteer and understeer describing the crash between Bowyer and Kyle.

Oversteer and understeer are the way a car corners. However, NASCAR doesn't use that terminology.

It sounded like it was a racing deal after listening to Bowyer describe the crash.

I have to subscribe to NASCAR's RaceView Audio. I usually do - It's fun listening to the chatter during a race.

Oh, OK. yeah. They were coming off turn 4 when Kyle got outside of Bowyer, and he got run into the wall at the beginning of the front straight.

Tell 'em, "tight" and "loose". I remember Buddy Baker once described the difference: "When you are tight, you see the wreck."

Dylan 06-01-2014 03:52 PM

Thanks, chefsos!

I appreciate you taking the extra time to answer my question.

Love the Buddy Baker reference.

There is some heavy (kind of funny and crazy) stuff going on between two teammates (Hamilton / Rosberg) that F1 fans and the international media cannot stop talking about.

Next F1 race is in Canada. Sparks will fly, again, between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. One of these drivers will most likely win the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in November.

F1 schedule have 19 races per year.

The terminology is interesting and not hard to learn –

‘Team Orders:’ There is always a plan before and during a race between team owners and teammates.

One example: ‘Hold Station’ which has been banned from Formula 1 early 2000. However, it is still used today – Although, it is worded differently over the radio. Those words are supposed to determine winners or position on the track between teammates for various reasons.

Teams usually hire a No. 1 and No. 2 drivers to pilot their machines. Nevertheless, when a team hires two No. 1 drivers, it is pure drama on and off the track.

I believe the way to be hooked in motorsports is getting to know the stories about the drivers.

Got any recommended links for F1 411?

I like watching, but never know when they're on. I think David Hobbs would be a great person to meet at a pub somewhere. It's worth watching an entire broadcast just to hear him say "he's done blowed up."

LOL

If I understand correctly, you are interested in watching Formula 1 races live in the United States on NBC Sports Network?

I prefer to watch the races live - Therefore, the races begin in the middle of the night in the U.S. on Sundays. Some races begin early morning - depending on the host country. Formula 1 races all over the world.

This year, Formula 1 is scheduled to race in Texas...NASCAR is upset that Formula 1 will compete for viewers at the same time as NASCAR's race in the U.S.

Team: Nico Rosberg
Lewis Hamilton is a crazy man! - He had better be careful and calm down fast – which he will not do. He is gunning for his teammate and Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has issued him a warning. It is time for Hamilton to realize that he is the pilot of a German Formula One racing team and teammate Rosberg's nationality is German.

Abba-Dabba 06-02-2014 12:57 AM

I would love to see a F1 race, but I would never pass up a Cup race to see one in Texas. Went to the spring race this year at TMS. Rained out on Sunday and didn't go Monday. But it first time ever that a NASCAR track gave a chance to those on Sunday who couldn't make it the next day, can redeem those tickets to any race at TMS of their choice. Very classy move by TMS for sure. So now I have 3 tickets to the Nov. Cup race at TMS.

F1 has always wanted to be a regular player in the US market. I'm sure I'll have more chances to catch an F1 race

Nico Rosberg said he paid no attention to the fact that he had been the first team-mate to out-qualify Lewis Hamilton in Canada.

The two Mercedes, who have dominated F1 since the introduction this year of turbo engines. Red Bull and Renault were left scrambling with the engine change, while Mercedes came up with the best package of engine and car. the

The Mercedes team has now claimed all seven pole positions to go with victories in all six F1 races this season.

“It is hard to overtake at the start here because there is not enough room through the first two corners,” explained Fernando Alonso. Turn one quickly leads into the turn two right-hander, and while passes here on lap one are uncommon, collisions between rivals are not.

Situated on a man-made island built for the 1967 World Fair, the first race at the track was won by Canadian hero Gilles Villeneuve in 1978 and the circuit was renamed in his honour following his death in 1982.

Will drivers cut corner at revamped Pocono?

Given the narrow width of the tunnel turn -- which is a replica of a corner at Indianapolis Motor Speedway -- drivers were happy to see the curb go. With the speeds they carry into that corner, they might as well have been hitting a wall. And the extended apron at the least provides an escape route for drivers who find themselves in trouble.

"I think it is a great change, because … when (cars) get pushed down, at least now you have somewhere to go," said Brad Keselowski, who will start third Sunday. "That curb before was kind of a race-killer. If you hit it, it would damage the front splitter on these cars, and that dictates a lot of the car's performance, and it could really end your day and not necessarily be your fault. I thought it was a good thing and a great change."

But as for cutting the corner at full speed? "I am sure someone is going to try it," said Keselowski, one of the first to make a practice of cutting the dogleg in Phoenix. "Clean air is so important, and when we all go down into Turn 2 and we are stacked up, I am sure someone will try to use it to find clean air. We will be all watching to see how they get through or if they make it. It should be interesting. It looks really rough down there, and I am not so confident the car will stick there, but I am sure someone will try it."

I'm still laughing at Jamie McMurray's car falling into a pothole at Dover International Speedway.

I wonder .... Do you wonder if Dover paid Chip Ganassi and Felix Sabates for their destroyed race car?

According to FOX Sports, "including the engine, a race-ready Nextel Cup car costs about $125,000 to build."

I swear .... Only in NASCAR could something like that happen!

According to BBC, Hamilton can do no wrong. However, everything he does is wrong - He is so jealous of his teammate. I guess it is a British / German thing... LMAO

Engineers can make adjustments to the cars back at home base...The engineers just said that they can't fix it.

Oh hell, Hamilton passed Rosberg.

And Rosberg takes the lead back.

Smoke coming out of the back rear of Hamilton's car..........

Hamilton is OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Hamilton's brakes are gone...Game over for HAMILTON!!! Buh bye...

OMG High speed crash between Massa & Perez...Yikes that was ugly - think it was Perez's fault - he was having trouble with his brakes or Massa had too much speed coming into the turn.

Daniel Ricciardo is a Grand Prix winner! 24 year old young VERY talented driver overtakes Rosberg for the win and beats out (again) 4 time F1 champ teammate Vettel. Vettel comes in 3rd (and almost wiped out)

Ricciardo's first win in Grand Prix...How sweet!

Edit: (NASCAR) What happened, #5 hit the wall?

chefsos 06-08-2014 01:57 PM

Tuning in late: I'm sure someone else has noticed that the TNT/NBC/whatever announcing crew is terrible. FOX had some dumb****s for sure, but these guys are sleep-inducing.

What happened, I see #5 hit the wall?

When I turned on my TV a few hours ago, F1 was there and NASCAR was not. So I watched it. Pretty entertaining; the end with all those guys who aren't usually there, and the virtual girl-fight between Hamilton and anyone else Rosberg.

No...the only girl is Hamilton... LOL

So happy for the young and talented, Ricciardo. He's been there all season...Pretty amazing to outpace your 4x F1 champion teammate, Sebastian Vettel.

F1 is very exiting to watch!!!

Junior is leading with 3 laps to go!

I missed the entire race...

JUNIOR

I picked Dale to take Pocano, woo hoo.

#88 Winner winner chicken dinner.

chefsos 06-08-2014 02:16 PM

If the 2 let the 88 by just to try to wipe that paper off the grille, it seems he waited too long to do it. I'll bet his water temps were pegged by that time and he was losing some power.

GloryDayz 06-08-2014 02:18 PM

At least it was HMS in the winners circle, AND a Chevy...

That's kind of what I meant...:)

Rosberg's just the latest schoolmate to look at Lewis funny.

Junior wins Pocono 400!

Congrats, mlyonsd - and to all #88 fans

In Monaco, Hamilton called Mercedes out over the radio during the race. That was a huge mistake. Merc is all about their brand.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso's contract is up at the end of the season. Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Mercedes said to the media, Alonso was maybe the best driver in F1.

This is Hamilton's first year with Mercedes and he has pulled the same mind games with former teammates Alonso and Jenson Button.

Merc renewed Rosberg's contract last week - Odd man out could be Hamilton. Now, all Merc wants is to win a championship -

I will post links to the articles.

That's how HMS motors do. Way to go Junior and the HMS engine shop!! All day long you could see the difference between the Hendrick powered cars on the straightaways. That was very impressive to watch all day. Bowties rule!!

Damn I'm really gonna miss Steve next year. Right when Junior finds a crew chief that gets his talent out of him he's leaving, but I respect him and the reason he is doing it.

Welcome to the 2 win club Jr~

chefsos 06-08-2014 03:19 PM

I'm waiting for Hamilton to cry about Mercedes using voodoo to fix Rosberg's car, after his broke.

He is peaking late. I think the death of his father, pressure and spot light hampered him greatly. Add that to the ugly split from DEI. He has found the balance in life. It took him awhile to catch the rhythm of his life's song but he appears to be tapping his foot to the beat now. I wouldn't be shocked if he reels off a couple great seasons~

Spot on. It seems like he's at a different place in life.

I can't imagine what it would be like in that sport to have to follow up as Dale Sr. as your father. It's the reason he has so many followers, but it also can be considered a curse.
