I'm guessing it's because a good amount of the players return to Latin America (or Japan, Korea, etc) and it would be difficult to coordinate an event with the entire roster in the offseason. It's much easier to bring the team along when they're in the area already.

Oh the Internet is a curse and a wonderful thing...

I can't find anything about a scheduled 2016 White House trip for the Kansas City Royals.

BUT

San Francisco Giants won in 2014 - June 4, 2015 White House trip - off day before @ Philadelphia Phillies series.

Boston Red Sox won in 2013 - April 1, 2014 White House trip - off day during @ Baltimore Orioles series.

San Francisco Giants won in 2012 - July 29, 2013 White House trip - off day before @ Philadelphia Phillies series.

St. Louis Cardinals won in 2011 - January 17, 2012 White House trip - Only recent off-season meeting at White House.

San Francisco Giants won in 2010 - July 25, 2011 White House trip - off day before @ Philadelphia Phillies series.

New York Yankees won in 2009 - April 26, 2010 White House trip - off day before @ Baltimore Orioles series.

So for the past few years only the St. Louis Cardinals White House visit has been during the off-season.

Coach 02-07-2016 01:42 PM

I think the logical choice would be the Baltimore series (June 6-8) and the off day on June 9th will be the WH visit before they leave to Chicago.

Forgot the joke. Wasn't it Cueto who hated the low targer

CaliforniaChief 02-08-2016 09:39 PM

I think Cueto complained that Sal's target wasn't low enough.

There's a whole Twitter exchange between the Panthers, Royals and Chiefs I saw on CBS Sports. It's awesome! If I knew anything about technology, I'd link it here. But go check it out.

The Mets tweeted out:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Congrats <a href="https://twitter.com/Broncos">@Broncos</a>. <a href="https://twitter.com/Panthers">@Panthers</a> we&#39;ve been there. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Mets?src=hash">#Mets</a> ⚾️ <a href="https://t.co/tnq1VUOjcX">pic.twitter.com/tnq1VUOjcX</a></p>&mdash; New York Mets (@Mets) <a href="https://twitter.com/Mets/status/696538893559205889">February 8, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The Panthers responded with:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">So have the <a href="https://twitter.com/Royals">@Royals</a>. We&#39;ll be back. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/KeepPounding?src=hash">#KeepPounding</a> <a href="https://t.co/9jlR9YGzk0">https://t.co/9jlR9YGzk0</a></p>&mdash; Carolina Panthers (@Panthers) <a href="https://twitter.com/Panthers/status/696706428598243328">February 8, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The Royals answered:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">.<a href="https://twitter.com/Panthers">@Panthers</a> Redemption makes it that much sweeter. Good luck! <a href="https://t.co/SoGHubnZic">pic.twitter.com/SoGHubnZic</a></p>&mdash; Kansas City Royals (@Royals) <a href="https://twitter.com/Royals/status/696713275120037888">February 8, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Then the Chiefs jumped in with this:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="und" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/Royals">@Royals</a> <a href="https://t.co/7fHPX1chjc">pic.twitter.com/7fHPX1chjc</a></p>&mdash; Kansas City Chiefs (@Chiefs) <a href="https://twitter.com/Chiefs/status/696717099650170880">February 8, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Which the Royals responded to:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/Chiefs">@Chiefs</a> Don&#39;t worry, you&#39;re still our #1. <a href="https://t.co/pqNUvnI6Zn">pic.twitter.com/pqNUvnI6Zn</a></p>&mdash; Kansas City Royals (@Royals) <a href="https://twitter.com/Royals/status/696721489110773761">February 8, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I think I did that right.

Wow...how far we have come from the Tony Muser days. I mean this team was on life support and now they are cool again and actually doing cool things like this. It is great that the team I grew up with is using this time to reintroduce themselves to the fans and get a whole new legion of kids to love the team. Those late 70s and 80s teams sold me on being a Royals fan and now my son is True Blue and I could not be more excited to make a ton of memories with him..
