Because the "call" was that forward progress was stopped when it clearly wasn't and you can't review forward progress for w/e dumbass reason. There was never an issue of his helmet coming off.

The illegal overloading on the succop kick
The illegal contact that should have been DPI
The circus fake punt

By your logic, the ball should have been spotted a yard to two yard back - and a measurement should have taken place.

I don't have any logic. I haven't seen a clear replay of the play, that gif above I can't tell when the ball comes out vs the helmet coming off and I was at a bar so I wasn't close enough to a tv to see it well enough.

The referee made zero mention of this in his explanation on the field. Ruling was "the SD player reached the line of gain, first down". No mention whatsoever of progress stopped. Ass covering.

I would think the most important thing would be getting the call right, but that's just me. It was pretty ****ing clear that forward progress was not stopped before the ball came out.

Well, look no further than what wuld happen if the WWE had unlimited reviews and you'll have your answer. While the WWFL isn't as overt about "the fix" as the WWE, there's no doubt that the illusion of "too many reviews would extend the game too long" was put to rest years ago by college football and simply isn't true.

Along with what I think you're alluding to, I'm really willing to blow it up and allow for teams to get five or six reviews per half, and let them review almost anything. Holds, push-offs, pick plays, pre-snap movement, almost anything thing they feel was "missed' on the previous play. And because officials are allowed to "miss" so much because of the "speed of the game" (which may or may not be true - they sure don't miss "bam-bam" DPI calls!!), I say let them get helped by unlimited booth reviews and six reviews per half, per team, to help them - because of the speed of the game.

I know it would reduce scoring, but I'm a football purist and I'm fine with games that end 14-13..

Your team won, that's all that should matter to you. Congrats to you and yours...

Agreed.

I'm very happy. Clearly there were some blatantly missed calls, but you guys are only seeing the bad calls against you. On the play before the fake punt, Gates was destroyed before the ball got to him and it should have been PI and the fake punt would have never happened.

The FG penalty was big though, I admit it. Sorry you guys lost, but things bounced our way today after not bouncing our way all season. I'm not apologizing for the Chargers making the playoffs.

No need to apologize for your team making the playoffs or the officiating, there are plenty of "those kinds" floating around the universe, starting with the league's front office.

Despite all the BS calls I am actually ok with all of this. I am going to the Chiefs/Indy and the Cincy/Charger game.

After we beat Indy, if the Chargers can pull off a big win then we will travel to NE and the Chargers can have a rematch with Denver. I don't like the Chargers at all, but I honestly think they have a one of the best chances of beating the Broncos at home and if they should get there then I will be cheering for them to win.

Have fun man. I would love an SD@KC AFCCG. I would say the odds are about as much as the Chargers making the playoffs, so it could happen.

I would love to see the Chiefs and Chargers go on a playoff run right to the AFC Championship game. That means our 1st team players would be hosting you again at Arrowhead.
