I sure as shit wouldn't want to bug out on a bike. If you get swarmed you're much better off in something with 4 wheels and doors.

I can understand a motorcycle (sort of) in a congested urban area where there are abandoned cars everywhere, and you might have to drive on sidewalks, down stairs, across jogging tracks in a park, etc...

I think I'd prefer a dirt or enduro bike, though. Hell, maybe even a bicycle, because it would silent and distance of travel wouldn't be your motivating force in an urban area. I also think I'd be wearing some hardcore leathers to prevent bites.

I was wondering why they weren't wearing the riot gear when they went out or when they went to clear out the cell blocks? That was kind of a big deal in the comics.

They probably need to have Rick's group start implementing some kind of protective gear soon. Otherwise, they're going to look stupid when they encounter the Gov's group (who do use protective gear, like the duct tape on the scientist's arms). Rick and them are going to be like, "Duh... why didn't we think of that?" which just draws attention to a narrative hole that the writers have created. Much cleaner, from a narrative sense, to just have them slowly implement the stuff without any real comment. Have one person use a riot shield in one episode. In the next, someone is wearing a padded sleeve when they go into "battle," etc..

I know they didn't have time to change because the walkers came in too fast after the gate was opened but T Dog wouldn't have died if he had on the riot gear.

My bike would be perfect for zombie evasion and maneuvering. Good gas mileage too. A cruiser wouldn't make much sense. I guess they wanted Daryl to look cool.

Frosty 11-15-2012 04:46 PM

I didn't like Daryl at all in the first season but he is probably my favorite character now. Also the most likely to actually survive something like this. Hopefully they don't pussify him.

I think he's the one character they can least afford to lose.

Except for the Atlanta heat. Heavy leather gets hot, fast.

Same here. Can't wait to see him and Merle meet back up. They're going to be two completely different people. Merle, the asshole and Daryl, the leader/helper. Should make for an interesting episode as to which way Daryl slides.
