so, If I bet $100... how much would I win, if the Royals win?

You gotta bet $165 to win $100 is what that is saying since it's a negative line
-165

If it was a positive line like so
+165
then you would win $165 for betting $100

yeah it's kind of confusing.

Bet $180 to win $100. If thats the line for KC, I assume for Chicago it would be something like bet $100 to win $170 or whatever. Thats pretty freaking huge in baseball, given how often good teams lose and bad teams win, where a really great team would still lose 40% of their games. A normal baseball money line is between +/- 120

It OPENED at -165, its now at -180, which is hilarious. I'm not betting that line for any team in baseball, unless it was something like the AL All-Star team vs one of our old 100-loss Royal teams, and even then the expected value would be about break even.

This is a sucker bet for people who have fallen in love with Greinke, Colon and the White Sox have a better chance to win than this.

Demonpenz 05-04-2009 11:56 AM

the word is the money line is that big because there hasn't been much action on the royals lately. Betters are still toeing the water it seems

hmm, I must have been missing something the last few years, its been a while since I checked baseball money lines because I see some similar lines for a few games out there. So, maybe this game doesnt stick out like a sore thumb like I was implying, but its still pretty lopsided.

The site I'm looking at now has KC at -190 and CWS at +170, the only game with a bigger favorite is Tampa Bay over Baltimore, but even then you have one team a lot better than the other with Kazmir VS a guy who is really struggling. Colon and the White Sox are getting no respect in our game.

Ok, this feels weird but I'm going to put it out there. I'm officially leaving the "I'm waiting for this to fall apart" bandwagon. This is a good baseball team and they're going to win at least 85 games this year. The starting pitching is too good for that not to happen. The offense is picking up, and we're doing this without good hitting from Butler, Gordon, and Jacobs.

I'm tired of Royals fans' mentality (which I have proudly carried for years) that we are a loser franchise. The corner has been turned and we're going to compete now. This in no way should discourage Pete from his "Game Over" posts because I respect that but I do not respect the jinx anymore.

Oh yeah, and I can't freaking WAIT until Saturday night. Got front row seats, upper deck for the game against the Angels. Zack's scheduled to pitch, and I'm pumped to not only go but also run Zack smack against the Mousketeers.

Thats not a spread thats a run line. There is no spread in baseball there's only the -1.5 run line. I'd guess that the payout on the run line would be even or damn close if the line is at -180

Demonpenz 05-04-2009 12:40 PM

the spread at bets.com went up to royals plus 2 runs

WilliamTheIrish 05-04-2009 12:44 PM

Want to get this in:

Pete: Shut up.

Demonpenz 05-04-2009 12:45 PM

the spread on some of the other sites seem to be going up. 3 runs by the royals to 4 runs i haven't seen a spread like this since the spread in the NY Atlanta game. spread

SOX made several moves on Friday:

Quote:

CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's (5/1) game at the Texas Rangers, the Chicago White Sox made the following four roster moves.

Outrighted OF Jerry Owens to Class AAA Charlotte.
Placed OF Brian Anderson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique (retroactive to April 30)..
Purchased the contract of OF Scott Podsednik from Charlotte..
Returned INF Jayson Nix from his rehabilitation assignment at Charlotte and reinstate him from the 15-day disabled list..
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news...=.jsp&c_id=cws

Podsednik will be forever a favorite for hitting that game winning WS HR off of Lidge in 05.

Its good to have hopes and dreams. But reality sets in and its only beginning of May, traditonally the Royals have never had good Aprils and usually are out of it by June. This season thats not the case but the division is still wide open and the Royals aren't the greatest hitting team, I also dont think the pitching will be as good as it has been, especially after Meche and Greinke

Kyle DeLexus 05-04-2009 12:55 PM

Of course Greinke is going to start giving up some runs, but who is to say that the bottom 3 once Hoch gets in there can't perform at a servicable level?

Damn. I should have got in when it was only at 1.5 what happens if the Royals only win by 4? A push in baseball?
