We appear to be improved but history with this team tells me not to get overconfident.

2nd our offense only looked good in the first quarter and we looked pretty weak thereafter.

We have to get healthy or we could lose to Oakland next Sunday night.

We were very lucky that the Jets imploded. Dropped passes, snaps, penalties etc.

There are some very big reasons to be concerned and excited.

Concern: Pass D - Other than Surtain our CB's are week.
Happy: With 2 back-up Tackles LJ ran the ball down the Jets throat (I forgot what their rank was but there were some Jets fans last week that tstated they were top 5 or 10.)

The D was much improved. There is talent there unlike 2 years ago when our D had all of the TO's (1st 1/2 of the year) and we knew we would crumble like we ended up doing vs. Indy. This D is much better.

If Roaf is out, at least we get Sampson back at RT and move Black to LT.

About the D and the team, happy, but caustiously optimistic.

Jim, Much like the Chiefs and Vermeil himself would say. "Don't piss on my Cheerios tonight" Let's enjoy what's left of Sunday and "Victory Monday". Then we can start wringing our hands Tuesday. :)

Think of it this way. Apparently everyone says we need to go at least 2-2 these first four games to have playoff hopes. Well, that's one in the bag, and a handy one that was.

1-2 is all we need. We can beat Chokeland next week and we will. After that any more wins before the bye will only prove moreso that this team is ready for big things

I think these next three will be a challenge, but judging by Week 1, I like our chances at Denver on Mon. Night more than at Oakland.

Sammy Knight (props to hits on calling this one) looks like a field general out there and that is EXACTLY what this team needed. Anyone who has ever had to supervise should know that attitude runs downhill.

Derrick Johnson and Bell are only going to get better baring injury and Warfield comes back in 3 games.

No Super Bowl prediction by any means but it is nice to see some D on the field again.

Just curious am I the only one who was not the least bit impressed with Bell. Did not wrap up, always seemed to be out of position, and was terrible in coverage. Yes he is fast but that is the only positive thing I saw regarding him.

I was screaming my lungs out with the defense today. My neighbor had a little portable on his porch watching the Donks and I'd look over at him from time to time to ask how "His game" was going. He kept flipping me off. ROFL ROFL ROFL

I really think Green could have had a better game with Boe in there instead of Horn. I think Boe would have helped the STs too

We just can't take a lot of nagging injuries each week. I kinda think it has a little to do with the lack of PT in preseason for some of these guys that got hurt today. A guy like Roaf should never pull a hammy. :shake:

Missed most of the game with the exception of the final quarter. You are correct, I didn't see much from Bell in that time either but he's got mojo.

Not much to back that up besides what I saw in Pittsburg unfortunatly but he'll get his ass in gear. Give him a week or two, he hasn't been on the field for almost two years.

Yes, I see the irony in that but I love that guy. NTTIAWWT

Did he have the games of Mitchell or Johnson, No. But he didn't need too because they were running plays away from him. They were testing DJ and Mitchell. I saw Bell making and disrupting a lot of plays.

He made an outstanding play, busting up a screen pass that was nulified due to a Jets holding penalty. He dove over a lineman at the legs of Martin and stuffed him for no gain/short loss.

If the Raiders can't show any better than they did against the Pats, we should have no trouble. Granted, their D is better than our, but I give our offense a big edge over the Pats.

I dont know how you can compare this game to the atlanta game last year at all.

Atlanta is a one dimensional team. Vick is a running QB by nature and not that great at passing the ball. Stop the run, Vick has a hard time winning the game as a pure passer.

The Jets are a football team that have given the Chiefs a hard time in years past. Rushing champion Curtis Martin has NEVER been held in check this well. You can say whatever you like about the bad snaps and dropped passes, but the Chiefs have never handled Curtis Martin in the manner in which they handled him today. 20 carries, 57 yards. Didnt see that one coming.

The ragging on the secondary is funny, because you people know that area of the team still is not at full strength. Mcleon and Washington are not starting caliber corners, so yeah, some burns are to be expected. Come on. It isnt as if this is a permanent thing with the secondary here. The Chiefs have to make do with this secondary through September. Surtain will be back next week, and we have 3 more games until Warfield gets back, and then I see the secondary improving drasticly. Mcleon will move back inside where he belongs, along with Benny Sapp.

Right now the main concern on defense I would have is the injury to Ryan Sims, and would think that depending on the results of his MRI, the Chiefs should be looking at signing some help at the DT position.

For some reason, I dont exactly feel comfortable with Junior Siavii or Khari Long taking the place of Sims.
