Nothing still...

Try removing everything under IDE controllers and reboot. CD/DVD drives use all native drivers so XP should be finding those without a problem.

The other possibility is looking for updated drivers for your MBD controllers. If you're still stuck, post the make and model of the MBD and we'll snoop a bit.

When you say IDE, I assume you mean the hard drives..yes? If so do I also remove the cd rom drives also?

I have tried removing them and reloading but the same problem. Windows says it can find the software "please in cd"....which I cant. In the Properties info , it says that there is an error in the registry. I've did a registry clean and repair, even tried a completely diffierent CD rom with the same result. I really dont want to go back in time and Restore for I will probably lose valuable stuff.
Any ideas?????????

Have you installed NERO or CLONE CD?
Sometimes they will trash your ASPI drivers.
Uninstall these programs and go to ADAPTEC.COM and download/install the ASPI drivers even if you don't have those programs installed.

Good luck.

No problem, just glad to help you.

By the way, did the registry edit do it or did you have to do the second part?
