You have the option of keeping it yourself and salvaging it, but i think that would probably be more hassle. I would mention it to the person if you were interested in keeping it. Most of the time they will cut you a check so now it state farm, then they will turn around and sell it and make good money. |
The adjuster has to explain all that stuff to you when they call. If you wanted to keep the vehicle I would ask them about that. They can't sell it without you knowing, but I know you have to say it's alright to get rid of because most people are ususally like take this off my hands.

I would probably google some stories to see what exactly your rights are because I don't know the ins and outs some of the parts.

I would just mention that to them then. I wonder if then your required to pay the storage fees or something like that. Because they would probably let you buy back your car but then your talking money to get your car out of impound, towing and things. Then you have to tow it back to a junk yard that knows that your looking to get rid of a car. I will just end my speculation there because I don't know the exact details because I am not Field claims auto. I just take the recorded statements for non injurys. |

Glad to hear no one was seriously hurt. I got hit from behind on the highway. It's hard to explain the shock of getting smashed into by a truck at 50 mph when you don't see it coming. |
damn that sucks... Luckily you both are alright and the other driver is a good person so far...

When I totaled my Jeep, the insurance company gave me the option of keeping it, but they would reduce the money they gave me to reflect the amount they thought it would net from salvage. My other option was letting them handle it, and getting more money. That was with Progressive.

Dont assume your daughter is alright.
I remember having an accident several years ago and felt fine until the next few days, when I started getting headaches and had to go to the Chiropractor for upward of 15 or so visits before my neck and spine finally straightened out. The injury could have been more serious, but wasn't. However, the bill was over 2600 bucks by the time I was rehabilitated. I thought I was fine. |
Sorry to hear about it, man. Glad you are okay though.

Glad everyone seems OK. Good luck.
Stick with that witness who said you had a green light. That may be important later on........ |
I can't imagine them paying out the full assessed value AND letting you keep the wreck. Here, at least, they pay you out (in my limited experience the values have been fair), then take your wreck and sell it to mitigate their loss. Why you'd want the hassle of selling a wreck, i do not know.

i bet you won't be working today right roger?

Ouch! Glad everyone came out of it in decent shape.
I would run down Gunther_Fan regarding the insurance issues, I saw yesterday he is an insurance adjuster in one of his posts He should be able to help you out with your insurance questions. Good Luck |
Glad everyone is okay at least. Sucks about the car though.
I think the rate they give you is the selling rate, but don't quote me on that. I know my wife got more then trade in value on her car last year after it was totalled. |
