Otown....
I like Boxing....fights like Gatti-Ward

That said....You're wrong about the boxers...Good boxers would be destroyed by most of the Top MMA fighters.

especially pride..way better fighters than ufc..

OldTownChief 08-22-2006 08:22 PM

I admit that I am un-educated on that type of fighting, but the old school boxers were finely tuned fighting machines. These guys just look like nothing more than bar room brawlers.

Iowanian 08-22-2006 08:26 PM

Most any of the professional MMA fighters would take mike tyson to the ground, sit on him and beat him until he looked like michael jackson.

Alot of boxers have tried it.....its a highly skilled sport for very tough guys.

The original MMA-Ultimate fight tourns were actually Karate BB, Jui jitsu, Wrestlers, Boxers....

I'll just have to try to ignore my first impressions and check it out. Immaculate is right, boxing IS dead. I miss those days.

Iowanian 08-22-2006 08:36 PM

I enjoy boxing...but the heavyweight division has nothing to offer, and most of the middleweights I like are getting old. I wish there was a Vinny Pazienza to root for these days. I'd taken to Gatti, but he's done.

Pure ignorance of sport. Open your eyes, Shut your mouth, And LEARN SOMETHING.

I am NOT sure about that one. Tyson would get schooled on how to sprawl correctly...like Griffin did to Tito in their last fight, then knock the shit out of someone. The great boxers would just learn the rules and still win. Hell, some of the best UFC fighters are or were wrestlers that LEARNED to strike. Great boxers would just learn to sprawl...

I wrestled all through college(my toughest competition was a state champ from Waterloo), and boxed for 4 years, and am an avid UCF fan...this is where someone tells me I don't know what I am talking about.

No he wouldn't, because he's the most moronic lump of $#it since turds started curling.

It's why he's never beaten anyone worth a damn and why he's done. It's why an average boxer like Lennox Lewis just ruined his $#it.

Fighting is more than your fists and your biceps...

When he was 21, under the coaching of Cus D'Amato...he was death on canvas. Cus made him watch vintage fights and disect them. It was ONLY after D'Amato's death that Tyson became a turd.

Yep. He could have been the greatest heavyweight of all time... he was well on his way.

Talk about a downward spiral :shake:

MMA has run the brawlers out of the sport... the guys can't hang any more. There was a day when a Dan Severen or Tank Abott could walk into the ring and simply pummel his opponent into submision. Those days are long gone. Today's pro MMA fighters are too well trained and too balanced to allow it to happen. Hell, even strikers like Chuck Liddell are schooled in grappling.

Try not to take it so personnel Francis. I admit I'm un-educated on the "sport" (not with men anyway). They just look like some really tough gay guys with issues on whether they should **** or fight. Just sayin. Nothing against you, I think.

Legends of the Ring - Ali vs. Norton '73 just came on on OLN..... haven't seen the fight, but thought I'd give a heads up...

Iowanian 08-22-2006 10:08 PM
