I saw this as well, and I tend to agree. We should get a minimum of a 3rd next year for Trent. Perhaps CP is bluffing here, but if we have cap room and Trent is performing like he did before his injury then I say he should start, damon backs him up, and Croyle is our third qb. In fact as I write this a 2nd next year is looking more like it for Trent.

At this point, I would be thrilled if we got a 7th round out of Trent Green. Why would we re-sign Huard for good money, and keep Trent Green? It just doesn't make since if we have Croyle, Green, and Huard on the roster the first day.

Good. We're not a charity. It's not about helping Miami or Green. If they want him, make them pay. If they don't, let him compete for the job.

Huard has had 2 successful short-term fill-in performances in his long journeyman career. Why wouldn't you want to keep Green? We have a bad line so the QB is likely to go down at some point. We have the cap room and I have not heard of a free agent DT, WR or RT that we are targeting with that cash. If we cut Green then Carl and the Hunt family has a better profit margin. How are us fans better off? |

If we keep Green, Carl is band-aiding and only interested in filling the seats. If we cut Green, Carl is doing it to save money. This place has lost it's burst. |
I never said that Carl is keeping Green to fill seats.
Would you rather roll into River Falls at the cap with Green in case Croyle isn't the answer or gets injured again? Or, go into camp $7m under the cap with Croyle, Huard and (insert QB name here that can't get a job elsewhere)? |
Good job it doesn't.

Oh, that's right...forget the fact that over the last 5 years, Trent has been the second most prolific passer in the NFL. Come on. He still has failed in a healthy year, even if he is 37. Brodie Croyle could use his mentoring, in fact, there's not a better mentor. It could be a really good situation. But I think that we have burned our bridge with Trent and I certainly don't blame him. :banghead: |
sorry, mistype. He still has NOT failed in a healthy year.
|
Why would Trent be unhappy with the Chiefs? Carl spoke with Trent and told him he could seek a trade if he wanted. Carl actually gave him a choice: seek a trade or compete for the job. Trent chose to seek a trade and it didn't work out. How does that make Carl a bad guy?

No buying that he'll be on this team for one second... That's just some gamesmanship by Carl. |

This team isn't a contender. There's ALOT of building yet to do. If we start Green or Huard, Carl is basically admitting that he's not willing to do what it takes. Instead he'd rather prop up ticket sales with another 8-8 campaign. |
