Go back and watch all the great QB's play in their first season behind a better line that what Croyle has. Then tell me Croyle can't ever be good.

I was gonna post something, but I have no interest in posting about the chiefs right now, sorry. Anyone have a good poop today?

RealSNR 12-10-2007 02:11 PM

Something tells me that even with Peyton Manning back there and a good Oline, QB wouldn't be the most necessary position on the team.

I hate to be a nazi that rags on the playcalling, but it's definitely half the battle. Look at last year where we could've had a lot more success on offense than we did. That's proof.

RustShack 12-10-2007 02:28 PM

You seen how Huard did last year behind an alright line, you seen how he did this year behind a piss poor line.

I understand that others may not share the same thoughts and that's fine, but to draft a first round QB with a top five pick is ridiculous at this point w/o a decent O-Line for them to play behind. The answer is going to have to be pickup O-Line positions in the first day, maybe a CB. Then see if we need to pick up any FA's The more we spend on a top five QB the less we'll have for FA to use to get some immediate needs filled in the O-line. JMO

One problem with that thinking; once you have an NFL quality OLine mediocre QB's become good enough to keep you from ever getting a shot at that top 5 QB. That is a recipe to be good enough for the playoffs, but not the SB.

Question is there really a top 5 QB quality available when they pick? If so, take him you won't get another chance once the OLine is set. What blows the curve are players like Brady, Farve, and Montana. What people on this BB are hoping is that Croyle will be another curve breaker. Until Croyle proves he is the answer if the Chiefs get a chance at a top 5 QB they need to take him over an LT.

I would modify this only slightly, Mr. Kris Kringle. If available, acquire the LT via FA or trade. Then draft the OG. I continue to worry about lack of experience at the LT position.

Well, there is the thread title. And then there is...

Again, I'm all for giving the kid his shot. Maybe next year with a half way decent line, he can be good. Hell even if he shows some promise next year I would be happy. But to say that he is the man, and jump on the ball washing train of a kid who hasn't shown jack shit is a bit much.

Although I disagree, you make a valid point.

I think this whole debate is kind of funny. What do you want in a QB? I mean really?

1. A guy who can make all the necessary throws.
2. A guy who is mobile enough to make a play when needed.
3. A guy who can establish himself as a leader among his teammates.
4. A guy who keeps his cool and doesn't fluster.
5. A guy who can take punishment, dust off, and go back to work.
6. A guy smart enough to learn a playbook and read defenses.

Anything else? Personally, I think Croyle has all those characteristics. But, am I missing something?

Yes. He's "the man" for this team. But, I didn't intend to say he's "the king" or anthing like that. Basically, I'm saying he's worth the risk. He mail fail or succeed, but he's good enough to gamble and give him a shot.
