AVG anti-virus and spybot are all you should need.

There was an article on 10 steps to total security, free, a while back.
They recommended the AOL AVG that was free, but AOL suspended that freebie.

But I also recall, Secunia, CC Cleaner, file shredder, haute secure.

I personally run those, plus ESET NOD [for pay AV/firewall, but really good and worth it, IMO] and windows defender, and am clean as a whistle [knock cyberwood].

I'd make a format c: joke, but you might actually do it... If it's a little red x at the bottom right next to the clock, and it pops up every once in a while telling you that you have problems, it's SmitFraud. Google it and download the fix.
