It honestly would not surprise me if Herm went for Gholston.

I remember last year we were told leading up to the Draft that the Chiefs were interested in Joe Staley time and time again. Yet Herm did not reach for OL there, and he won't reach here either. I am 90% convinced he's going DL (unless Jake Long pops up). The only wrench in the spokes, to me, is Matt Ryan.

Gholston would be a brilliant pick, and even better if we do end up retaining Allen. Ellis or Dorsey would be picks you couldn't complain about either.

So to recap, we can't screw this up, unless we REACH.

There are only 4 players we should look at drafting with pick #5: Glenn Dorsey, Chris Long, Jake Long and Sedrick Ellis. If they really feel that Matt Ryan is a franchise, can't-miss QB or if they can properly utilize Vernon Gholston then throw them in there too. Otherwise, no thanks to anyone else.

I can't wait for the draft to get here. I am going crazy thinking of all the ways the Chiefs are going to screw it up.

Gholston, is too much of a gamble for the #5 spot.

Chiefmanwillcatch 04-21-2008 01:14 PM

TV analysts said Gholston is a big risk because he disappears and lacks consistent hustle.

I will trust Herm though.

*We could of had Jared Gaither(6'9" OT LT for Balt in last years suppl draft.)

At this point I think you think everyone is a gamble outside of 2 guys.

Interresting that Parcells might draft him to play RT because he's gonna run that way often. Who is to say we wouldnt do the same if we had a shot at him? if a guy opens holes in a run first Offense and we're getting 1st downs behind him what does his value become? I know he isnt protecting the blindside, but a dominant player is a dominate player and worth it if yu use him right.

Its stupid to pay top dollar left tackle money for a right tackle.

The point is if that's a coach's intended use for a lineman, then he doesn't really need to go after the best lineman in the draft with his highest pick. Stout road-grader run-blocking offensive lineman are much easier to find throughout the draft. Especially when they aren't required to protect a QB's blindside.

If I needed to hire a crop duster to dust my crops, I'm not going to pay an astronaut to do the job. Yes, he's fully qualified to do it, and he would likely do a very good job. But I could get the same results more efficiently by hiring Joe Bob's Crop Dustin' Co. for a 1/4 of the price.

Yep, quoted myself. Only because the hair on the back of my neck is still standing because of this draft. The excitement for the 08 season did a 180 in less than 1 hour on Saturday. Feels good to be a Chiefs fan.

I usu. think King is a moron, but I like how he refers to Dorsey as Warren Sapp Jr.
