He's going to HAVE to catch 100 balls to make up for Martz abandoning the run early in games.

8 carries a game isn't going to cut it, and I'd be concerned about his injury history.

Meh - he's missed 1 game in the last 2 years. Outside of LT show me any RB who hasn't missed games during the regular season.

Considering his past output, injury history, and where Bad Guy is drafting, I think it would be a solid pick. But that's just IMHO.

Moss and Braylon Edwards would be tempting, as well. If Maurice Jones-Drew were guaranteed to not split time with Taylor, he'd be the no brainer there.

My mistake - you're absolutely right. I thought he had missed significant time last year.

I guess it just appeared that way, since he was all but invisible on the field.

That whole team was invisible. Mike Martz offers reason to believe improvement is a real possibility.

I'm just really torn. I hate to use a first rounder on players that I'm not big fans of. I think Gore, while a decent option, is doomed in SF because of a horrid line. Same with LJ this year.

I think I can get 3 really good years out of Moss. It's a PPR league, so that helps.

Still have some time to decide.

Even splitting time, he's scoring WAY more than Gore has, and IIRC, last year was the first year in quite a while that Taylor didn't miss time with an injury.

Personally, I think he'll get more than enough work to make the pick worthwhile - and I have ZERO faith in any RB in a Mike Martz system.

Their coordinator was about as bad as it gets last year.

So I see that point.

I just worry about Gore's injury history in college too.

OntheWar, did you get my PM from the other day?

MJD will likely still be there in the 3rd, so I can hold off on him.

Lemme check.

OnTheWarpath15 08-14-2008 11:26 AM

Yes, I got the PM.

No, I haven't found the patches.

Sorry.

I'm trying to think of ONE running back who has a better combination of youth and talent, much less another 2 1/2 rounds worth.

Unless you're playing with monkeys, the kind of RB's left in the 3rd will be of the Edgerrin James, Thomas Jones and Jamal Lewis variety.

Yeah, you're kind of in no man's land. If Donte Stallworth hadn't gashed Edwards' foot, I'd be tempted to take him. You know Moss is going to put up numbers, LJ MIGHT return to form, lots of QBs you could take..... not a slam dunk choice. I'd say it would have to be a RB or Cube. Womever you take, the guy you pass on will probably have a career year. It's just how things work. :D

I think we basically agree, even though Steve Jax was a monster in Martz's system. I think his holdout is going to bring him down a bit, but not much.

The question for Bad Guy is if he DID take Jones-Drew, would his yardage on kickoffs be included (I'm assuming they would be)?

DaKCMan AP 08-14-2008 11:49 AM

He said it's a PPR league and MJD hasn't had more than 167 rushes nor has he topped 1,000 yards in a single season.

The Bad Guy 08-14-2008 11:57 AM

No kickoff yardage.

I'm down to LJ or Gore for this pick. Gore had a better year last year than I realized.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm planning on taking Romo on the way back, so I have to nail this pick.
