The thought of Chucky Gruden dancing like a ferry on arrowhead stadium instantly pisses me off!! The Chiefs had better when in Oakland or I will lose it.
|
Hate? Naw...
Gruden is a good coach. He put an end to the "fade" stigma that used to haunt the Raiders. His Happy Dance is a bit irritating, but winning gives him the right to do so. Who was it who said act like you've been there before? xoxo~ Gaz Has nothing personal against Gruden. |
I hear you. Maybe that's his motivation.
|
I think Gruden is the type of guy you only like if he is on your side. I like my head coaches to be a little more reserved and dignified. HOWEVER, if he coaches KC...I love him. (Well, like him a lot anyway)
|
it is irritating
But the more I think about it, it's really a compliment. Beating the Chiefs at Arrowhead IS a big deal. If he really thought we sucked, I don't think he would be celebrating. These victories mean something to him. And rightfully so.
|
That sounds like jealousy.
Gruden is a very good coach. Beat him, and you wont see the obnoxious dance. Things changed in Oakland when he came on board (it helps that they took Gannon from the Chiefs and gave them Chester and Gunter). Thats the kind of guy the Chiefs need. A diciple from a successful program (Green Bay). Steve Marucci, Andy Reid, Mike Sherman, and Jon Gruden were all coaches under Holmgren in Green Bay. All have winning attitudes, all know what it takes, all are young. Gruden turned Oakland around, Ried has turned Philly around, Marucci has rebuilt the 49ers, and Sherman is 10-7 since he took over Green Bay. |
Sherman going 10-7 didn't prove anything except maybe that he is no Ray Rhodes...

What the hell are you talking about! I started the thread by saying he might be one of the best young coaches in the NFL. I could've been jealous if we still had Gunther and no sense of direction, but Vermeil is a proven coach. He has done it not once, but twice! (How many rings has Gruden gotten as a head coach?). Even if Gruden turns out to be better in the long run, I prefer Vermeil with the situation we are in right now. We don't have much time to turn the franchise around, so we needed the best, and Vermeil has proven to be the best at turning franchises around in short periods of time. Let's see what happens when the Raiders fall short of the superbowl again, and Mr. Al "Nuts" Davis goes berserk against Gruden, will see if he can handle the pressure! We might see him jumping like a freak again, but into the bay. :) I never said he was a bad coach, but his behavior is just dumb, and arrogant. Maybe, like some people said, if he was on our side I might look at him different. Maybe Dick Vermeil might try the jumping thing after each win, but I am afraid he may break a hip or something. :) |
Yea, jealousy that the Chiefs dont have him. As far as Vermeil, he would be a great coaching choice for the Chiefs if he were 15 years younger.
You said he is the Chiefs best choice because the Chiefs "dont have much time to turn the franchise around". Are the Chiefs in jeopardy of moving? Why is this so urgent?? I seriously doubt the Chiefs are turning anything around while Dick Vermeil is here. The Chiefs need draft picks. And the top two draft picks were used on a backup QB and Vermeil himself. Thats not the most efficient way to build a winner. |
Ken,
Check out how many draft picks DV had when he took over Philly. And that was before free agency when the draft was even more critical. I foresee you bringing DVs age into this so please include Marv Levys turnaround in Buf. when you do. |
God, since Ken guaranteed me that I don't have to monitor him anymore, I put him on ignore.
The only time I have to deal with him now is if someone complains... |
Blond,
I am not saying Vermeil doesnt have a great track record. He does. But I doubt he will be able to turn this team around before he is 70 years old. They just dont have any young talent. Gonzalez is great. I hear how Edwards is great too, but I just dont see it. Given Carl Peterson's draft record, and his record of pssing away draft picks, AND his recrd of letting productive players walk for nothing (Gannon, Grbac, Horn), I just dont see a Chiefs team challenging for a ring under him. You and I both know he will be here as long as he wants. Hes not going anywhere as long as the seats are full. Marv Levy had incredible talent at Buffalo. Can Vermeil get the same type of talent? I dont think so. Not with Peterson. |
I would have loved to have seen the Chiefs player that knocked out Biekert go lay a good one on Gruden at the end of the game. I think that pretty much tells you how I feel.
|
PF...I would agree that taking Chester off Oakland's hands was a mistake...but not Gunther...he was hired as our DC and our D was pretty solid under his tutelage (not to mention..fun to watch)...hiring Gunther later as the head coach was the mistake (at least with what he ultimately was surrounded with anyway)...
I can't stand Gruden either and it has nothing to do with jealousy...I just can't stand his mug period...no real reason...other than the little "Hitler jig" he has taken to performing when they beat us...emotion is one thing...(ie pumping your fist, hugging players, slapping high fives, etc.)...running down the sideline like a little leaguer who got his first hit just strikes me as plain bush league...but of course it will just be sweeter watching him go postal when we do beat him, and things will turn eventually...even our 90's dominance over greasy Al turned when it seemed it never would... Payback is a bit#h! |
Htmsque,
I never "guaranteed" you anything. Quit the BSing. If there is one thing that wont change, its my candor. If you do have me on Coward, I mean Ignore, thats good for me and the rest of the board. BTW, I thought it was your "job" to monitor the board?? Did you get fired again? Dont talk out of both sides of your mouth. There are to many smart people here that will call you on it. |
