Trent Green played poorly. How close am I?

Ethelyn 09-10-2001 06:20 PM

Did I say that or is someone else saying that

"Trent Green played poorly. How close am I?"

I'm confused

Brock 09-10-2001 06:22 PM

No, I said that. I was merely responding to the party line tone of another individual's comments.

Ethelyn 09-10-2001 06:45 PM

I don't want to offend anyone, because I'm passionate about my son and I'm passionate about football. But I'm a parent also.

It's like Trent can't read the coverage, and then when he finally gets it, it's too l

This was the comment I was refering to when I said "finger pointing". Ethelyn, I like Mike! I'm glad he's on the team and was disapointed he and Gonzo were not utilized in tandem more often yesterday. Brock, To say "Trent Green played poorly." sounds alot less like finger pointing then the other statement. But alot of the players could have played better yesterday so let's wait until we lose two or three in a row before we extend our digits in the direction of specific players.

It did look like he didn't understand what was going on. The general consensus in the area in which I was sitting, that he did wait a long time (a couple of times) before he threw the ball. The receivers were sometime doubled and tripled coverage.

I don't have a problem finger pointing...

We lost because the offense was inconsistent at best. The qb, the rb's, and the wr's were inconsistent or completely absent.

Our rushing yardage was pathetic.

Our wr's and qb never got in a groove, for whatever reason.

Our run blocking was horrendous.

No single player on offense played well consistently. Many players like Gonzo, Ricks, and Menace made big plays. But no one consistently played well on offense.

The entire offense as a whole played poorly....

I agree Ethelyn, Trent did hold the ball a little long a few times but I don't think it was just because of him as much as it is what Brad posted. The point I'm trying to make is that there is plenty of blame to go around and it should be shared by all the players and coaches. I guess it's the use of the word "can't" that I disaprove of. Let's hope next week that Trent and Mike hook up for a couple of TDs. I think we both know that they "can".

I just hope that with the mistakes that were made against the Raiders won't happen against Seattle. Seattle didn't score a touchdown - the Chiefs lost a game, should be pretty interesting.

mcan 09-11-2001 06:53 AM

I wouldn't say he held on to the ball too long. Did he get sacked alot? No, so he held on to the ball to give the recievers time to get open, and still had to throw the ball away alot. He did get hit pretty hard a couple times, but I think he was only sacked once or twice. Good pass protection. We need to run block though.
