I knew where you would stand on this.

Love the idea of Pioli....

Despise the idea of Mediocrity...

The fact that up until Ben R was drafted and bucked the system in Pitt. Coward was nothing more than Marty Jr...

Thanks but no thanks, we need to move on and let the past go...

I've read this drivel here for awhile, and i want a young coach - spagnuolo -, that being said... it's idiotic rhetoric. Cowher took a team to the super bowl with Neil Odonnel... he won with Jim Miller, Bubby Brister and other terrible talents.. that is amazing... he only winning a super bowl with Rothislberger should not be held against him. It is like holding Brady against Belichek.

Do you consider Bilick a better coach than Cowher because he won with Dilfer?

Pioli.

But I have a question for the more wise. Would Pioli keep Chan after this season? I am speculating since Pioli is coming from NE, that he likes to spread it out and wing it around, or at least run a "set up the run by passing" type of O. It seems that Chan has shown the ability to adapt to inept HCing and lesser talent to put together a good O that would have put up some pretty crazy numbers had they implemented this offense to start the season.

doubt it. Pioli would drop everybody. I would see Gaily staying if Cowher got the job.

If talent can make Gun look like a genious
it's a slam dunk

It doesnt matter, if we ever want to step out of the shadows of nothing and become a player in the NFL, we need to let go of the fear that surrounds us and look outside the bush of Carl and Marty....

There are plenty of TREES out there to get a good young coach out of to rebuild this franchise that has fell flat on its face for the last 20 years.

Coward is just more of the same and lets just say no to mediocrity...

Cowher is not mediocre, is the point. As much as a enjoy direct building metaphors in regards to the "rebuilding" of the team... I still don't understand this argument.

I am not sold on Cowher, its a matter of personal opinion. He was nothing special until he landed Big Ben and then you have a young talented QB and a HC that wanted to neuter his balls off out of fear...

I would just rather not relive the past out of fear of moving forward to something that might produce a championship...

Your takes are outright terrible.

By this argument, all of these coaches are mediocre:

Belichick (Brady)
Dungy (Manning)
Reeves (Elway)
Shula (Griese, and the Marino)
Jimmy Johnson (Aikman)

By the way, I would say that Cowher won with the worst QB on this list, if that means anything.

To answer the question though, I guess I would vote Pioli, although he is not who I want as GM.

Pioli. Duh. Other than the SB year, Cowhers teams in Pittsburgh always seemed to under-achieve.

Take it how you want...

I dont think I can be anymore clear... Its time to move forward, let go of the fear that only Marty/Cowher are the only ones out there than can build and win...

Why are you guys so scared to move forward? Seriously? What scares you about letting of the past and trying to build a championship team?

KChiefs1 12-21-2008 01:51 PM

Pioli

No one is scared to move forward, some just feel that Cowher will be the best HC option available this offseason. Many across the league would agree with that.

You act as if Cowher hasn't won anything. HE WON A SUPERBOWL.

Just because he happens to have ties to the Chiefs doesn't negate that. What makes him a bad candidate, other than your obvious hate for the Chiefs?
