Skaters, today, are...slackers, or worse, pot-head slackers.]
Least at our High School. Hope it's better elsewhere. :hmmm: |
Steve Caballero deck by P&P, independent trucks, OJ II's, and black fly paper
|
One of the guys in our group used to be a pro skater in the early 80's.
His office is littered with empty boxes of decks he buys on ebay. He's got some really nice ones. He still sneaks off at lunch several times a month and skates. "backwards" BErnie. here is shredding today, he's like 43. http://thehouseofsteam.wordpress.com...-cove-ca-2007/ |

Yea something like that. Hell I think we invented the "street luge". would get really bored and ride them boards down the steepest hill we could find. them damn things were really hard to stear at speed. |

Once you took up speed, invariably one of you would either lean out or lean in, resulting in a breakup of the system, resulting in both of you spinning like a roulette wheel across the pavement. |
The one I remember the most was my Free-Former.
http://www.gasolinealleyantiques.com...reeformer4.JPG They were pretty much a broken bone looking for a place to happen, narrow, unstable and the kicktails at both the front and rear gave a kid all kinds of bad ideas for stunts. |
My brother and I had Makaha "Cheddar Cheese" skateboards that our mom got us at the JC Penney outlet store.
It was an orange plastic board and neon green (fake snakes) wheels. I think it had tracker trucks though. My brother for his 13th birthday got a Val Surf "pool/park/pipe" Val-wide board with tracker trucks and Kryptonics wheels. That board was like the droooooooooool board. |

My favorite design....mine was white and black with a layer of "boneite".

Hosai Hammerhead.
No one had this deck. At the time,a buddy and I got the idea to start an underground skate shop for friends. The distributor that we did business with( for all of two orders ) had Hosoi as its' lead skater. http://www.bakerpools.net/collection/krookedhosoi.JPG |
The deck that ended my skateboarding career.
Greasy Winstead's work shoes and ollie kick-flips on free-style boards do not mix well. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1174/...f2fe7d.jpg?v=0 |
I owned alot of other decks that I had saved, broken ones included, until college.
A rogue roommate stole the lot before disappearing...never to be heard from again. |
