Hey Yankmes, the Wall Street gravy train is over. Good luck sell $1000 seats.

Tex is a much better signing for them than the Giambi contract, that's for sure.

Why? Giambi had much better numbers the three years before signing with NY than Tex did.

The YES Network alone gives them massive profits. I'm pretty sure that even if they never sold a ticket to any home game, they'd still be at least break-even.

On the juice. Plus Tex is better defensively. He'll be a much more consistent player.

I think the signing (and the system as a whole) is a joke, too, but Tex is a very special player.

Good God. Is their payroll at 300 mill for the year?

it was 222 million last year so ........ um .... it looks like it's heading towards 270 for this year.

Tex isn't likely to be a 'roided up, so his numbers are more likely to be consistent with what he's done to date.

Here's hoping their pitching continues to disappoint. I'm not at all sold on Sabathia, much less Burnett. Sabathia might even be good for a couple years then completely collapse, the way he treats his body...

They shed some decent sized contracts though. Giambi, Pettitte, Mussina, and I'm not sure who else.

chiefs1111 12-23-2008 02:41 PM

they have spent over 400 million dollars on three players......

This is true. Shicklegruber has created a cash hog monster with the YES network.

As an Angel fan, I bummed we didnt get him. However, I think its funny that everyone had him going to Boston, but then they get swooped on. Dont get me wrong, Boston will be just fine without Teixeira, but the rivalry cracks me up. Its entertianing for sure.

They don't need a superstar at every position. they need role players.
