Yep. Crabtree is the shit. We got the best player in the last draft, and we will have a chance at the best player in this draft.

What will Pioli do?

I think watching the Cardinals has made me loopy.

You know, if anyone would have suggested three weeks ago that the Chiefs take Crabtree, people would have thought that person was crazy.

But after watching Fitzgerald do what he has done, some minds are changing on what an elite WR can do for a team. The guy is otherwordly and can change the outcome of a game. Even more so than Moss can, due to Fitz's ability to break tackles and make mind-blowing catches (his willingness to block in the run game is a huge plus as well).

The thing is, though, a stud WR won't mean much if he can't get the ball due to a piss-poor Oline or questionable QB.

IMHO, the Chiefs are in an incredibly tough place -- they need upgrades across the board, but still need to get players of value who can contribute relatively soon. So they're going to have to choose whether or not they draft for need (not a great idea, IMHO), or just take the best players available regardless.

Of course, all of this assumes they don't trade down, which could happen if KC finds someone <strike>desperate enough</strike> willing to do so. And at this point, those odds are slim.

I think everyone can agree that it would be best for the Chiefs to trade down.

Oh hell yes.

The issue is finding a team willing to trade with KC, and I'm just not so sure there's an player at the top of the draft another team wants badly enough to do so.

What team needs a receiver so bad they'd trade up for Crabtree? What about one of the O linemen -- any team out there in such need they'd be willing to pay what it would take to move up to #3 (other than KC)? None of the defensive players seem ranked that high, so what team would make a deal to make a reach?

I'm not even being sarcastic -- what teams could we consider as possible trade-up/trade-down partners?

I've wondered about Cinci. All indications are that Ocho-Cinco and Housh will both be gone. Cinci may want to get up in front of Seattle to get Crabtree.

Andre Smith OT (Ala’bamy) - ???!!

I don't...

The Bad Guy 01-19-2009 05:17 PM

I don't think it's in the best interest to trade down either.

I think if Pioli wants Crabtree, he won't get him trading out of the 3. Seattle is going to need a WR badly.

Mecca 01-19-2009 05:21 PM

I don't think Crabtree is that great of a prospect....he's not the physical freak of a Andre Johnson or Calvin Johnson...

He wasn't the college player Fitzgerald was and he's coming out of that offense...just to many question marks to be the 3rd pick.

I think a trade with Seattle or Cincinnati could happen. I would be in favor of drafting Stafford or Sanchez in that order, but the third spot might be too high for Sanchez from a value standpoint.

If we could trade with the Bengals or the Seahawks, that might allow us to trade down another 5-7 spots and still not worry too much about any of the teams in the top 15 grabbing Sanchez.

Anything in the top 10 is a bit of a reach for Sanchez. That doesn't mean that nobody would take him, but I don't see anyone trading up to take him that high.

That's how I feel as well. Plus, I still am giving Thigpen a chance to succeed, but we also need a QB to give the reciever the ball. Crabtree can't do diddly shit if his QB isn't giving him the ball.

ChiefBrad 01-19-2009 08:02 PM

Crabtree

I want Crabtree on K.C. with Bowe and Gonzalez and Bradley. If we stayed in the spread with those weapons and Thigpen's ability to run + L.J. and Charles that would be awesome.

Linebacker and Julius Peppers would be nice too. we have the 2nd pick in the 2nd round. we can get a good linebacker with that pick. We need linebackers in a major way. The current crew is making the gun look bad.

suds79 01-19-2009 08:05 PM

Well given we now have Pioli who had success with Brady & Cassell (6th & 7th rounders), I'm giving up on the idea of us landing Stafford or Sanchez.

I really hope we trade down for more picks.

But if we stay where we're at, I suppose I'd be okay with the best possible OT. We need a RT anyways.

Not sure if there's a DE right now worth that #3 spot. I don't know. I could be wrong.
