Hiring Gunther as HC was a mistake, bringing him back as DC was a mistake, firing him was necessary. I can't argue with the per-year rankings. I can argue that player personnel was poor, and Gunther made no direct improvements.

I have to say though, 06 and 07, our offense was SO bad that teams would get a lead and milk the clock, thus making the PPG and YPG a little misleading.

Shoot, he made excuses all along the past five years. First it was G-robs scheme and he was going to fix it all by himself. Re-signed all the players we had. Didn't work.

First excuse when that didn't work... needed better players. So they got him "better" players. Didn't work.

Second excuse... need different coaches. Herm comes in and he gets different coaches. Throws DV under the bus on DV's way out the door.

Three more years of needing better players and they get them for him, and he is still claiming no talent and now the schemes don't match either.
