It became old and unimaginative in about 1987, but no one has ever accused football players of being overly creative. Just stop it. Please. Stop it.

If you're going to soak someone so that their clothing sticks to them, why don't you do it to the cheerleaders?

Yeah, Tomlin was wearing a really nice coat that he probably didn't want ruined.

I think the last time the Gatorade shower was truly spontaneous was when Paul Pierce did it after the Celtics won the Finals. That was hilarious.

don't worry Mike, you have nothing to worry about.

It's lame, old, tired, played out and,... not going anywhere for a long time.

So I guess I'd better get used to it. :(

I wish a Chiefs coach would have gatorade poured on him eventually...

do you know who started the gatorade shower and the name of the first coach to receive it?

<------ yours truly

a little trivia

Okay, put your money down on the Cards now.

Thats a huge jinx.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has a message for his players: Don't give me a Gatorade shower if we win the Super Bowl. Defensive end Nick Eason and linebacker Arnold Harrison did it after the Conference Championship and Tomlin made sure to get a mental note of who did it.

Sounds like the guy isn't much fun. But has the "Shower" been played out or is it tradition?

If I were a first time winning coach, I would want one. No question. I bet Wisenhunt gets one if they win, and he deserves it.

Hydrae 01-25-2009 05:16 PM

Tomlin was pissed because it was frickin' cold at that last game they played! Would you want to get soaked out in that weather?

It depends on if I wanted to win in that weather.

"January 26, 1987: In Super Bowl XXI, middle linebacker Harry Carson, the man who invented the Gatorade shower as he and Lawrence Taylor helped lead the New York Giants to their first of two Super Bowl titles in 1986. The Giants defeated the Broncos 39-20 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena."

"Carson took off his jersey and borrowed a security jacket to disguise himself, and snuck around the sidelines, dodging the wary coach. But Parcells couldn't avoid it, as Carson snuck up on him and dumped the Gatorade cooler onto his coach to celebrate their first Super Bowl victory. And from that moment on, the Gatorade Shower was no longer a special thing to just the New York Giants; it was now a moment that the country had seen and would copy forever."

Herm has never been showered with gatorade

I would like the HC and a sideline coach to do on their MVP. Even if they may have to go onto the field in the victory formation.

Jenson71 01-25-2009 11:03 PM

There are children in India who would love that gatorade.
