I believe if it's off of his property, it's on him. They may ask how much of the tree bled over your property line, though.

Dude, how long has that dead tree been standing there? You should have propped it up with stacks of 100 dollar bills.

Actually it was alive and plenty of leaves this summer.

Damn. Sorry to hear about that.

As long as everyone's safe, you'll be able to deal with the headache and bullshit. Not that that's any fun.

Glad it hit the garage side of the house and not the living side still its going to be a mess for awhile. Well this will make the third remodel in the last 12 months :)

Demonpenz 02-11-2009 10:58 AM

His insurance will pay for it if it was negligent, but if it wasn't yours will have to pay for it since it was an "act of god" Irony for you I know...... I hope one of the companies takes care of it I hope it doesn't get into your company says the other guy was negligent then the other company doesn't take care of it because they say it is act of god.

I feel your pain. Had the same thing happen with a bigger tree last april but it didn't hit my house. I know a guy that burns wood for heat and he came out and took almost the entire thing for me. PM if you need a phone #

A lot of that will buff right out.

I don't know. Have you seen the movie "The Mist"? I haven't read the book, but I think this part was also in there.

The same thing happened to them and then crazy aliens from another dimension came and made the place like a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

You might want to watch yourself.

Not in Iowa. A falling tree is an act of God.

Prayers coming your way, Dave. Chin-up.

;)

Wow, sorry to hear that. A tornado brought a tree down on my mother-in-law's garage and one has lifted the roof up on my father-in-law's garage. My FIL had about a 4 inch gap between the roof and the top of one of his garage walls. Insurance hoops and remodeling sucked for each of them.

Good luck with everything.

Lzen 02-11-2009 11:17 AM

Sry to hear, Dave. Good thing God was looking over you and didn't allow the tree to hit the living side of the house. ;)

We were on a weekend camping trip about a decade ago. Came home to a huge branch of this tree in our backyard laying on the back of our house. Sucks. That tree must have gotten hit by lightning because that was not the last time it lost a huge branch and caused damage. We finally got rid of the old thing because it must have died from the lightning strike or the idiot tree guy not sealing it.
