If they're a friend(even acquaintance) worth having, they will respect your wishes to decline spending an hour listening to their BS. If they don't, then they certainly aren't someone you'd want to be friends with anyway.

It's the type of thing where he won't tell me what it is, only that I will need to come find out. I asked a co-worker who went a few weeks ago, and she said it was some Fortune pyramid thing. I already committed (for the second time), so I have to keep my word and at least show up. He doesn't know that I know what it is. Maybe if I act kinda pissed afterward, then he won't bug me about anything like that again.

Anyway, I'm going to the cookoff. It's from 11-4. I go, leave, then go back, but it's $15 to get in.

My low rent shit bag of a cousin (who is a minister by the way) hit me up for a pyramid scam at my Grandfathers funeral last year.

call him and ask him what it's about.
if he won't say, tell him to stuff it.
