Gaffney is the #2 outside receiver in the 3 receiver set, although he will also line up in the slot on occasion. Think of it this way...
Moss is the medium/deep outside WR
Welker is the short/medium receiver over the middle
Gaffney is the short/medium outside wr
Watson is the medium/long receiver over the middle
That's the basic tree, with the rb capable of slipping out of the backfield, although it's obviously not going to apply 100% of the time. Gaffney would still go deep on occasion, Moss would catch short passes, etc.... but it's the basic framework. |
