Both Gretz and Babb said that Cassel looked good in his throws. Babb mentions the one thing that might be a concern, that the injured knee is the one he plants when he throws. If the knee bothers him, it might leave his throws high and susceptible to INT's because it affects his follow-through.

Or we could put Thigpen in who is susceptible in INT's whenever he throws. Or Brodie who is susceptible to death whenever he plays.

The leg he plants with is his right leg...the leg that is injured is his left which he will follow through with...

IMO its better that his left leg is injured more than his right.

You are correct. I said that wrong. My concern would be that as he puts his left foot down, he wouldn't put his whole weight on it and have a proper follow-through. This could leave his passes high.

How Babb even has a job as a sports writer is beyond me.

Okay, the gimpy part doesn't really bother me. The fact is that he will get a cortizone shot on Sunday morning, and that plus the adrenaline will make his 'soreness' unnoticable.

Some of you people can't WAIT to see this guy in a cast, can you?

"But...but...it's the first game of the season"!

You know, I might have a bet going with Doomy3 where Cassel will probably fall short, but I don't want the mother****er KILLED JUST SO SOME OF YOU CAN GET YOUR FIRST-GAME JOLLIES.

Wake up, and GROW the **** up. ****in' True Fan idiots.

You calling anyone an idiot reeks of irony.

This is part of playing in the NFL. If there is little risk of further injuring the knee, you get your shot, and you suck it up and play the game.

Guys get dinged. They have to play through it.

And, if we only play Cassel on the weeks that he won't get hurt.... well, then he will never play for us.

**** you. You're the idiot on this one. That isn't a ****ing "ding" that Cassel got hit with you asshole; that's one helmet away from being out for the season.
Have you forgotten who the **** we're playing this week?!

But Oh well, all hail the Great Nosensical Chiefs Fan; just shut your eyes, wish for the best, and scream "PIOLI" at that top of your dumb, ****ing lungs as our 60 Million Dollar Franchise QB goes right down the shitter just so you can enjoy one ****ing day of football.

Take a breath, bro.

First, the only information we have on how things are going comes from Josh Looney, Kent Babb, and Bob Gretz. Nobody here knows the medical reports. And I don't even recall the Chiefs acknowledging that it was a sprain of the MCL (I could be wrong there.)

This isn't about being nonsensical. You put your players on the field who give you the best chance to win...and guess what? The Oakland Raiders have hard-hitters too. Hell, it was a Kansas City Chief that took out Joshie McDungiels' apprentice last year. Any player can be lost for the year on any play in any situation...if it is a sprain and is just about what you can grit your teeth through and not risking further injury, you put him out there.

Dude, we can't just sit him until we feel like the opposing defense poses no threat.

If so, he'd never play this year.

It's the regular season - if he can go, he damn well better go.

Now, if he gets killed, it's on Pioli's shoulders for not protecting his investment. But not playing him because of concern of injury is weak.

Brady went out for the year playing the 'lowly' Chiefs. Buy a clue moron.

Titty Meat 09-10-2009 01:02 PM

Youre a pussy if you don't want Cassel to play this week. Thats some Herm Edwards shit right there.

If he can't scramble 100%, if he's not healthy 100%, this franchise is going to regret the decision to start him if they do for a long time to come.

How many years has this franchise and fan base waited to get this type of Quarterback( assuming he turns out great )?

If Matt Cassel get's "Brady'd" or worse; this fan base will go to Defcon 1 in the blink of a snap. This is a bad idea.

FAX 09-10-2009 01:03 PM

I wouldn't play Cassel unless or until he was 100%. It's just not worth the risk of further injury and setting him back 2 more months ... or more. Think about it, with a problematic knee, just a tap from the wrong angle can create even more serious problems we definitely don't need or want.

Were I Haley and Cassel isn't 100%, I'd start Croyle and, depending on how he performs, bring Cassel (based on the score) or Thiggy in off the bench. If we're fortunate enough to establish an effective, successful run game, it's .... MOOT!!!!

EDIT: Remember, our QB has to be mobile. To survive, I mean.
