As I just said in another thread, you want a long-range plan to build a juggernaut, not a flash-in-the-pan like the '02 Bucs and Raiders. Pioli could've kept Tony G and made some other moves (e.g. vet QB, big-name FA) to make this a .500 season and make Pioli look good. Of course, it probably would've just delayed the rebuilding of the organization by a season or two.

This.

Hey, things are looking bad right now, but there's no reason we can't get back to being mediocre again real soon. Heck, I could see us being mediocre by the 2011 season.

I just miss the days when watching these ****ing dildos didn't make me want to either vomit or cry.

I'm sorry. But many couples would look at experimenting as a good thing, so there's a bright side.

Don't forget: whether you're the 2008 winless Detroit Lions, or the SB-losing Arizona Cardinals... there are 31 unhappy teams come Valentine's Day.

It's all about the Lombardis. Nothing else.

If the fans and press don't run Pioli and Haley out of town in the next season or two, I'd be willing to bet that they bring KC a SB trophy a lot sooner than Oakland or Denver get one. Or even San Diego, for that matter, who have fielded very talented teams over the past few years and have diddlyshit to show for it.

I'm making a point of not watching. I don't see any reason to get myself all pissed off and ruin my Sundays. Not to mention that I'm sure it's no fun for my family when I spend the day in a bad mood because my team lost.

This.

I didn't even watch the Chiefs/Eagles game. I set my DVR to record it and went out did what I wanted on Sunday. I checked the score...and mustered a "meh". I knew they were going to lose.

I get pissed off about FF more now...then I do about the Chiefs losing.

Why do you always have to be god awful first to be a super bowl team? Why cant you be mediocre first and then great?

As far as the Chiefs are concerned, mediocrity meant we were always one player away, one coach away, etc. For the most part though, it meant everything was okay, because Arrowhead was full every Sunday and there was always next year.

Being god awful isn't a requirement for being great, but I think often times with the number of oversized egos involved, it takes hitting rock bottom to realize major change is needed.

Then again, we've gone from "we're tired of Marty/Gun, let's have some offense" to "wow, on second thought, how about some defense?" to "WTF, Herm?"... all within a decade. I'm not saying we shouldn't have necessarily moved on from any or all of those, but until they stick with a plan for more than a few years...

DeezNutz 09-28-2009 12:53 PM

It used to be--and I'm not talking about the last couple of years specifically--people hoped to tank so that we could get a franchise QB.

DumbHillbillies 09-28-2009 12:54 PM

As much as this team frustrates me, I will take it if we can get a championship as a result. I'm done with being happy with 8-8, 9-7 conference champs and then losing in the 1st round of playoffs.

I turned it off after they gave up that long touchdown pass/run right after we'd finally managed to score. Give me just a little bit of ****ing hope and then BOOM HAHA SORRY WE'RE STILL THE CHIEFS AND WE'RE GONNA LOSE, BUT YOU HAD HOPE THERE FOR A SECOND, DIDN'T YOU??? SUCKER!!!!! I just played on my ****ing Xbox the rest of the day. I don't even want to want other games. $350 for Sunday Ticket, and these pricks have put me off professional football.

I'm really angry today. Perhaps it will pass, but perhaps it won't.

This whole division has been bad since we got bad, so if we would have just been content with being mediocre like we always were, we'd probably would have won this division the past 2 years and this year. I dont know about you guys, but I miss the 8-8, 9-7 days. Atleast we were competitive, every game meant something, there were big games to look forward to, Arrowhead was still rockin, shit was still exciting, we weren't the laughing stock of the whole league, and we could beat the Raiders at home. We just had to become awful at the worst time, we cant do shit right.

Yeah, right. 1 and done's. Been there. Done that. I don't wanna sniff the playoffs until we have the balance needed to go deep.
