Agreed. In fact I’ll go a step further.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that with the coin the NFL brings in they use part time employees to referee games. There should be full time NFL employees answerable to a board of owners chaired by the commish.
There should be full reviews of each game and employees ranked on how they call a game.

you mean orange was wrong, shocking.

I know sending a letter is lame but going back and altering the game's result isn't an option either.

the screwee in each messed up call gets to kick the offending ref in the pee pee.

seems to me the refs were pretty determined that the Giants were the good team and therefore should get the benefit of the doubt last sunday.

CoMoChief 10-07-2009 05:13 PM

Well I don't think this should apply because the ref was RIGHT THERE in the middle of the action.

Having that said, us as viewers have a better look usually as to what happens because the situation is different. We watching TV or sitting in a seat in the stadium/arena.

They're in live play looking at a hundred different things going on on one time. How many refs are there in an NFL crew, 7? So I know that each one has their own job to do. I mean you all know the saying that holding occurs on just about every play, its just whether you do it so much and it's obvious to where you get cuaght. But having to make judgement calls in live play is harder than most people think.

The punishment will probably just end up that they have to call Chiefs, Browns, Rams, and Raiders games the rest of the year.

If had been a helmet to helmet hit the NFL would have fined Page. I think in this case they owe him $5K.

So can we get the usual suspects to quit hiding behind the "NFL did a study and concluded X" as the reason this was called?

I think it comes from when Boldin got double teamed in the endzone last year during that Jets shootout. He was hit in the back and face almost simulatenously and broke a cheekbone/orbital with a concussion. My guess is Goodell saw that and put it in his notes for next year.

I imagine that would influence refs to leave the flags in their pockets more. While that might be nice for the fans, the NFL seems to want to go the direction of more flags...

They owe me a refund as far as I'm concerned.

I don't like the way they are calling alot of helmet to helmet calls either. A pass rusher can rush the QB and sack him with his face up and if his face mask makes contact with the QB near his face mask or helmet they flag it. That's BS.

Why? So the ref can go for 20 more yards and score?...wait...sorry.

Mecca told us we would get called for that because he tackled high

True. I think that fact pisses me off more than anything from last Sunday's game. In our house, during the 4th game of the regular season, I could maybe understand, at the most, one movement prior to the snap from our O-line. We got flagged at least four times.

Lack of discipline? Poor coaching? Head up the ass? Either fine players or fire the o-line coach. Someone needs to be held accountable because there's no excuse for it.:banghead:

Realistically, they should be included in replay challenges. Maybe only certain ones, like helmet to helmet or something. I mean, a holding call is pretty hard to use and any given play has at least one hold. They could work on it somehow.
