Why? Because he's your son?

JFC.

He broke the law. He sped through a school zone.

No amount of excuses will change that.

I got a speeding ticket here for going 32 in a 25. These cops really have nothing to do. I probably could have gotten out of the ticket by simply being polite to him but when he asked if I was "in a hurry to get somewhere" I just laughed at him and told him "obviously not if i was only going 32 mph." I've also been pulled over for "almost going into another lane". I ****ing hate the police around here.

you can find a lawyer in the phone book to get it amended. some jurisdictions don't require a lawyer, but most of the ones around me do. you can call the city hall or whatever and ask if you need a lawyer or if you can amend it yourself.

as for "people deserving a break", rofl. these are the cops we are talking about. the more high school kids they stick with tickets, the sooner they get new dodge charger police cars.

I've seen enough people fly through school zones with kids all over the streets to say that I wish they'd do MORE in school zones.

I really don't think you can be too careful around schools.

I've been pulled over for not signaling when i changed lanes. my drivers ed teacher said signaling was a courtesy.

my sister got a $50 ticker for having a tail light out...when she was turning into the auto parts store to replace the tail light.

1. Check with American Hero, pretty sure he is a Lawyer.

2. Tell your kid to quit driving and start shooting up steroids.

Yeah, the message you're sending the 16 yo ain't the best, from the info offered.

Yes. You can get a lawyer to get the moving violation changed to something like faulty equipment, but you will have to (a) pay the lawyer (unless you can find a kind-hearted CP lawyer who will do it for free) and (b) pay a fine that is even higher than the fine for speeding would be. Even though this will be expensive, it's still cheaper than having your insurance rates go up.

It used to be that non-lawyers could do this on their own in some jurisdictions, but things have changed a lot in the last 10 years or so. In KCMO, they won't even talk to you if you're not a lawyer. I doubt that you can get anything done on your own in Blue Springs, but it wouldn't hurt to call the prosecutor and ask them if you can get a ticket amended.

Exactly. He was speeding, but just because you and others have done it in the past when a cop was not there taking radar makes it right from now on? Yeah, it's that jerk cops fault for breaking a posted law that's there for all to see.

Teach a person a real lesson here: make your son pay the ticket and any increase in insurance and quit blaming others for your son's mistakes, you're not doing him any favors coddling him when he's in high school. OR, you can run to a lawyer and advance the litigious society we live in by pointing fingers at someone else. Rant over. Signed, an Attorney.
