Yes.

Keep in contact with friends/colleagues/etc.

I've been contacted by headhunters on there too.

Yeah, been on there a few years. Got an email from an old Sprint guy I use to work with the other day.

Get some recruiters sending me emails about jobs that I have no interest in is about the only downside I've seen.

Yep....been on it for about 3 years
very good tool for networking and doesnt cost anything for the basic package

DaFace 11-19-2009 11:16 PM

I'm on it, though I don't really use it much.

Mosbonian 11-19-2009 11:46 PM

I just started using it.....I had avoided it thus far, but several of my peers are on it and speak highly of it. Just wanted to get a feel for how many people here use it also.

I found it very useful for interviews. Especially informational ones. Find out the decision maker, then find a guy who knows a guy who knows that decision maker. You'll be surprised at how many people in your network are only 1 or 2 networks away from a person who has the power to get you a job.

wildcat09 11-20-2009 12:23 AM

yup but not sure why

Rain Man 11-20-2009 09:35 AM

I'm on it but haven't really done much. I must say, though, that it seems like a much better tool for businesspeople than other stuff like Twitter. I really should use it more.

Have any of you switched jobs through a head hunter or hired an employee through one?

I've talked to several, and almost interviewed through them. I have ended up not going through the head hunter and looked at local or internet jobs available pages and probably found the business they were working for. I think it helps in negotiating a higher salary as they don't have to pay the commission.
