There would only be a QB controversy if Clausen came in and played lights out while Cassel continued to suck donkey balls. And really.....if that happens....who the **** cares. With the way Cassel played last year....he shouldn't be guaranteed a starting job.

Looking at their histories, neither Haley nor Pioli have anything against a QB controversy.

This would be an Epic Win if it actually came to fruition...

Which QB controversy was Pioli involved with?

Starting QB suffers a life threatening injury and the backup leads the team to a Super Bowl?

They're could have been a possible controversy after that year. I'm sure there were fans screaming for Bledsoe to get his starting job back.

After the original starter was needed to win a playoff game at Pittsburgh.

I'm sure there were lots of fans who wanted Bledsoe (5-13) his last season and two games, over the kid who won the Super Bowl for them. Tons of fans lining up.

Dude....think of all of the fans who wanted to keep Larry Johnson after all of his shit.....there are dumb fans out there for every team.

If this would be a primary reason for not drafting Clausen, both Haley and Weis should be fired immediately.

Good coaches aren't afraid of the ramifications of bringing in talented players, and I doubt the above "reason" concerns our coaching staff in the least.

There isn't a controversy if Cassel plays better. And if he doesn't, there should be a QB controversy, rather than a situation where you have nobody else to go to.

I keep seeing Brees/ Rivers being the example here. Difference is those guys got to develop with a good team around them. Foremost an O-line that could block and recievers who could catch.

Do you even watch football? How did the Chargers have the #1 pick in the draft if they were good? Eli Manning forced a trade because the Chargers were terrible. The Chargers got Rivers, Merriman, and Kaeding out of that deal which is a big part of what made them good.
