Stay on the strip. It's worth it to be able to walk downstairs and go outside to one of the other casinos.

Bring comfortable shoes. You'll be walking...A LOT. The maps of the strip don't really indicate how far it is from one end to the other. If you want to take a cab, it'll take forever because traffic down Las Vegas Blvd is God awful.

Don't go on a weekend. The prices on the hotels are super jacked up on the weekend and all of the minimums on the tables are raised up super high.

Buy your own liquor at a store that's not on the strip. When you get your cab at the airport, ask him to run you by a liquor store. Buying liquor at any of the bars is super expensive. I know that you can get free drinks while gambling, but that gets to be counter productive pretty quickly.

Fremont St. sucks balls IMO. I guess its worth a look, but it's not really happening over there. However, everything over there is WAY cheaper, so if you are motivated by money, then that's the place for you.

Go see Cirque du Soleil (or however the f you spell it). We saw Mystere, which is the original one that's at Treasure Island. It was amazing. I heard that Ka (MGM Grand) and the stripper one (NY NY) aren't as good.

Be prepared for little mexican people in stupid T shirts standing on every street corner handing you porno business cards. They stand there and flick them to make noice, then they literally shove them right up in your face while they sit there and listen to their IPods. All of the sidewalks are littered with little porno cards.

Like this - they are everywhere!

But Vegas really is a lot of fun, especially the first time you go there!

I'd look into the Imperial Palace. It's not the swankiest place, but the rooms are clean and the location can't be beat.

Check out some of the promos on Fat Wallet. There are some good deals to be had.

Are you going on the weekend or during the week? Fri-Sat nights are considerably higher that week nights. For example, the Imperial Palace has $25-35 weekday rates and goes up to $100+ on the weekends.

I'm gonna be staying Sun-Tues. I'll check out that site for sure. The Marriott thing is just one option. I wanna go on the cheap where possible, but I definitely want the full experience.

Yeah, I think you are staying at the cheapest possible time. Good decision. Some of the major strip hotels can be had for pretty cheap during the week.

I heard The Signature at MGM Grand was sweet and surprisingly inexpensive for how nice it is. Confirm, Deny?

I stayed at the regular MGM Grand but I don't know about the signature. My MGM Grand room was nice, but not spectacular. I stayed Thursday through Sunday and I think we payed like $300 a night. We had an awesome view of the strip though. I'd definitely stay there again. The only drawback is that the MGM is way down at the south end of the strip. Next time I'd like to stay somewhere closer to the middle, such as Venetian or Caesar's.

I'm gonna be in Vegas for a convention March 16-18. I'm staying at the Imperial Palace for $40 a night. I've stayed at NY NY, Bally's, Harrah's, and the Boardwalk before they blew it up. I like Harrah's/IP because of the location. I like to go cheap on the Hotel since I spend very little time in the room. Just need a place to keep my shit, get a few hours sleep, shower, and get on the computer.

Its fun just don't blow all your money the first 3-4 hrs you are there.

The Signature is an all-suite joint that is run by MGM, but not attached to the casino.

Mrs. OTW and I usually stay at the Wynn, but I'm on the MGM e-mail list. You can probably get a room mid-week for $100 a night - which from what I've heard about the place is a good deal.

I get e-mails all the time from Wynn, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay and MGM. Shoot me a PM with your travel dates and budget and I'll see if I can find you a deal.

When the next decent UFC card shows up down there, is when I fly down to raise a little hell.

be sure to go to Fremont street in the evening. The over head show is cool

Piano bar at NYNY is a must see.

Highly recommend piano bar at NYNY. Place is packed after about 10pm. Standing room only.

I only went once with a friend, we stayed at excalibur cause it was teh cheapest.....but it was a blast. Definitely do more than gamble! Also, Planet Hollywood has a special casino where all the dealers are gorgeous ladies in lingerie, go there.

yeah and also Caesar's Palace has the Pussy Cat Dolls gamble area where hot girls deal and strip tease while you play. lol

I also remember getting hassled from limo and cab drivers to go to the strip club and they'd take me there.

If you're walking you're saving money. If you're sitting you're spending money. lol

Also if you like craps the best tables are at the Bellagio, Caesar's, and Aria. I have the most fun at these playin craps and their wait service is very good at keeping your drinks coming and free while you play. The $5 minimum tables are hard to find, but are at Excalibur and O'shea's if you don't want to play the $10 minimum tables which are pretty much everywhere.
