Hype ruins comedy more than any other genre, IMO.

If you've been told over and over that you're going to laugh your ass off, you probably wont.

The funniest movies are always the ones that sneak up on you.

Lebowski.

That movie snuck up on me. Amazing.

Game. Set. Match.

well I enjoyed the Hangover. I agree that if ZG wrote his own it would most likely be outstanding.

When John Goodman got hit with the windblown cremation ashes... That's the last time I laughed in a theater.

to like the Hangover a lot you need to like Zack Galifinakis's style of comedy. I think he's hilarious and his stand up is great, he's not your typical comic though.

I love ZG's stuff in the Hangover, but that wasn't the entire film, unfortunately.

Yeah. This. The Hangover just felt almost formulaic to me... which is weird because it has bizarre plot, but it still felt like cliche or something. Let me say that I absolutely loved the movie. As others have also pointed out... it was a victim of being overhyped. I waited until DVD to rent it, so I had put up with 6 months of hearing how amazing and innovative and such it was.

When the ashes cover the Dude, it is the only,"Somebody just died, but I can't stop laughing" movie moments.

I agree. I enjoyed The Hangover, but it was not that funny. I think Zombieland is far more humorous.

The final fight sequence in Role Models was the last time I laughed in a theater. I laughed HARD too. People were wondering what was wrong with me. My gf had gone to get food or the restroom or something, and when she came back, she was embarrassed, I was the only one still laughing. HARD.

I saw it today. It was pretty funny. Not the funniest I've seen by a long shot, but I don't feel like I wasted my money.

The Hangover is such an overrated movie.

Broken Lizard stuff is usually pretty funny. Checkout Slammin Salmon.

We just rented this over the weekend and i thought it was really funny.

"Bid good morn to the warrior Lunestra."

"Lunestra? Isn't that a sleeping pill?"

"Yes, because I send my opponents to their eternal sleep."
...
"Before battle, let us gently touch tips."

I agree with this as well. Like Phin, I saw it after it after it had been out a while and I heard nothing but "this is the greatest comedy every" and the like. People talking about it being better than Animal House and many other cult comedy classics.

I thought is was a good comedy but extremely overrated.
