No matter, we'll get together if i ever drive to Myrtle Beach! |
I used to live in Fayetteville for 7 years. we used to go deep sea fishin out of Myrtle Beach. I did not like it ther but then a gain Fort Bragg is in Fayetteville. The quality of the work force there was horrific. I'll bet in the 7 year period I fired well over 100 people from a farm that only employed 14 positions. I actually had someone drive by my house shooting through it. One bullet went through the bedroom wall, through the headboard and was inside my pillow. Lucky it happened at 1:00 in the afternoon. Yeah, I know, unlucky for CP. Shutup frazod.

I have lived in NC for 10 years. My wife and I moved here after we graduated from KU to find a job. Research Triangle Park is a nice place to work at. We are obviously very happy here (stayed 10 years), and love the opportunities it provides for both work and leisure.
As far as cost of living, its fairly comparable to the midwest. Maybe slightly more expensive. The real estate is pretty much priced as: Chapel Hill is more expensive then Raleigh which is more expensive then Durham. |
hmm--tough call RNR. Wichita with about 350k peeps, vs Kinston with about 25k? If you're ok with rural, you might be fine. Pretty sure the cost of living would be much lower in Kinston, but that's a big jump in culture I'd imagine. Raleigh is about a bit over an hour to the West, and while there are lots of good folks, the small towns can be kind of clannish, much as it is everywhere. I've got some really good friends from Kinston, but they moved the hell out when they got old enough and never looked back. NC can be roughly classified as "east of I-95 and west of I-95", with the eastern side being mostly rural, former tobacco towns like Kinston. If we're talking a similar size town in the western part of the state like say Morganton, I would seriously consider it, but that's just me. RJ is right though, the "Que" is pretty good down that way.
