Kolby Smith? That's slightly surprising...

Dude couldn't stay out of the whirlpool..... his eventual release was pretty much a given.

it's amazing that the first guy cut wasn't Jake O'Connell. That guy is the definition of ass.

I guess this either means that they don't have anyone else they think is roster-worthy and/or they're still concerned about Cottam's health.

I'd imagine we'll see at least one more TE acquisition this year, if not more.

Basically rookie signings are coming

Nah. They don't have to be officially under the cap until the first game. None of these guys counted against the cap and none of them were receiving weekly salaries.

They're just cleaning up and shaping the roster. They'll need to cut from 85 to 53 at the start of the season, so we'll probably see at least 40 more roster changes before Week One.

Gotcha, makes sense

You can only have 80 players under contract. I bet this was done b/c of upcoming late round signings.

But you can only bring 80 players to camp...

I know this but they had 85 guys at the OTA's and mini-camp, thus my point.

What I want to know is why nobody else besides me is upset by the release of OL Jermail Porter. He was the face of this franchise for 21 seasons.

Thank God.

Now I don't have to listen to anyone else yack about how a slow RB with no shiftiness and no true power game is some sort of panacea.

Kolby Smith sucked and sucked hard.

What about Battle?

booger 06-14-2010 04:33 PM

he's still in the battle for a roster spot

Rain Man 06-14-2010 04:41 PM

I kept reading about how good Banks looked, and now he's gone? Weird.

I always thought Kolby had potential. He was one of those backs who doesn't have a dominant physical trait, but had good vision and the ability to avoid tacklers. The injury was unfortunate for him.
