I get what you're saying but it was a good, solid football hit.No one on the Broncos side seemed to have a problem with it.I'm sure they would have jumped in and backed Orton up if they had felt that it was dirty. It's all is a wash to me anyway,Orton instigated the contact with Harrison IMO.He could have chosen not to tackle a sledge hammer with a cotton ball but he didn't.He decided to go head to head with a much larger player and took a hit.Harrison simply stated that's what you get in that scenario.

Agreed - especially in preseason, if you're a starting QB ... you don't make that type of contact. And, the only reason that Harrison would be walking a fine line is because he said Orton essentially disrespected him earlier, he didn't like it and that hit is what he had coming to him.

So, you could easily read that he was intending to do something to Orton the whole time and he was just waiting for his opportunity. Again - I don't think it was a bad hit, but players just need to watch what they say and how they say it.

Well I doubt Harrison will care if they do fine him.I have to believe as a defender,if he really felt "disrespected" then the $$$ was well spent in his opinion.I just wish they'd go ahead and make the rule where the QB is off limits all together and we can move on.It's probably right around the corner anyway.:banghead:

well at first I was fine with it and thought orton was an idiot for attempting the tackle (which I still think was stupid). But when I saw the replay, you see Orton go to the ground to take out Harrison's feet, then Harrison dives to the ground and basically goes out of the way to hit orton with his shoulder. If orton makes the tackle the way he did he should've only got hit by harrison's legs below the knees. He was on the ground and got hit with harrison's shoulder.

Ok.I see exactly what you are saying, but Harrison lowered his shoulder just like a RB (offensive player) with the ball and plowed Orton into the ground. If they make that a dirty/illegal hit,you may as well quit running the football all together.

Yeah, I saw the hit and thought "Damn, he was intentionally trying to lay a hard hit"... but, it's football. If you don't want to get hit (esp preseason), don't put yourself in that position.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Harrison embellished on what was really required there. Like you said, not illegal, but likely dirty.

That said, Orton needs to learn that diving with your back to the oncoming ball carrier is not an effective means of making a tackle.

No, man. Orton was already on the ground when harrison dove into him. If orton wasn't there and harrison did that move he would have just dove onto the ground. He didn't just lower his shoulder, but I'm not really complaining since orton's dumbass shouldn't have been there in the first place. But the hit was still dirty.

Maybe he learned his lesson.:thumb:

I hope so!

It's a dirty hit because its preseason. If it's the regular season it's gravey on a fumble recovery. Of course none of it should have happened because it was clearly incomplete in real time.

Damn, where can I find a clip of this?
