With the guys I normally do this with when given a chance, you would be welcome riding a bright pink Vespa.
This isn't Sturgis. These things aren't about the bike you're on. It's about trying to honor one of our fallen and keeping the families shielded as best we can from those douches.

I have a big yellow button at home somewhere that I bought in Topeka about ten years ago. It simply says: "FRED BLEW ME!"

MOhillbilly 09-01-2010 08:22 AM

So did they show up Bro?

you talking to me? if so, never saw anything monday, or yesterday...figure they'll show up this afternoon for the funeral.

they showed up at one last year, but between the riders, and the locals they were pretty much invisible. it's about 50 miles from kv to the military cemetery and both sides of the highway were lined the whole distance w/people in cars, trucks, tractors and combines, holding flags and signs showing respect.

very moving.

Me too. They accomplish the mission while taking the high road. They represent the best of America, patriotism, Christianity, etc.

I would too. There are a lot of people, or at least a few well-funded ones who agree with their bizarre agenda.

Serious question. Would you convict anyone of shooting Fred Phelps in the head on video in public? If Phelps was picketing some fallen soldiers funeral and it turned out the shooter was the father and Phelps was wishing their son was in hell.

I'd vote to acquit them regardless of the evidence presented. But that's me personally.

He's a complete douche. He causes people pain and anguish. But I think ignoring him would cause him far more pain than allowing those people to have a martyr to rally around.

The worst thing these people do is entice good people to stoop to behavior that is far beneath them.

I did not know the fallen soldier in question, but I hope his family is sufficiently shielded from these vermin.

What I really hope is that this will be the day somebody finally puts a bullet in one of their heads.

This.

Missouri had passed a law banning protesters at funerals from one hour before the service until one hour after the service. The took it to the state supreme court, however, on the grounds that the law violated their first amendment right to freedom of speech, and the ban was lifted.
