I tried that a few years back. It didn't work for me. Put 4 nails in it. |

Tordon RTU...not straight Tordon |
You'll want to do the stump brush method during an active period of growth when the tree is sending nutrients to the roots. Like, now is good.
Another thing you can try is grubbing the trees. Buy or rent a 'weed wrench' and go to work. No chemicals, but more labor. Posted via Mobile Device |
12 gauge pump ... or round-up brush .......

2-4D is actually labeled for this (Yes I read the label). You cut it off and put a 2-4D soaked towel or paper towel on top of the trunk. Don't dilute it, just soak up the towel. It will soak it up for long periods of time and 2-4D is absolutely murder to anything broad leaf.
Be cautious though. Use 2-4D Amine. Don't use Low Vol or ester. If it gets above 80 it will volitalize (turn from liquid to gas) and damage your bushes. I thought you had to have a private applicators license to buy Roundup Tordon or 2-4D. Maybe you don't anymore. If you get ahold of some without a private applicator license. If you get some, be sure it hasn't been diluted. Posted via Mobile Device |
Or you could get fiesty and tie a cable around it and pull it out with your pickup. You will still have to kill the saplings that come up from root.
