How is changing the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL going to completely ruin us?
We don't have any good/young talent on the DL for a 3-4. If we switch to a 4-3 we will have two young studs at DE in Dumervil and Ayers PLUS the second pick in the draft. We have 4 starting caliber 4-3 LB's already in DJ Williams, Woodyard, Joe Mays, and Haggan... heck Ayers might be able to play SOLB in a 4-3....
Denver is a young team on the rise. We have a franchise QB, a franchise RB, a franchise LT, THE BEST WR core in the NFL, THE BEST passrusher in the NFL, and a pretty good secondary. We aren't far away. I think we are set up better for the future than any team in the division.

Ayers hasn't proven a great deal at this point and with the likely new scheme, everyone on defense is suspect. Elvis should be fine, I think he can be a playmaker in any defense and Fox will be able to utilize him well.
Franchise QB... you're referring to Tebow and he's nowhere NEAR that label at this point. Moreno? Please... he's not a 20-25 carry RB, he simply isn't and they need to add someone like DeAngelo.
I don't know if I would call them the best WR core... they did very well, but Royal and Thomas are now hurt - missing lots of time and that will hurt the development of Tebow. They don't have a TE worth a damn... that needs to change.
There's a lot of upside, but let's not pretend they are 2-3 players away... they're 5-6 playmakers away and they likely won't fix that in one offseason. Especially on defense, they're going on what ... their 7th change in philosophy and coaching for the 7th straight year? That's not good... and that needs to be priority #1.
My keys to the Broncos improving: (stop the run & run the ball)
#1 - fix the defense... create a philosophy and build the foundation, bring in 4-6 new potential starter/rotational guys to build on the 3-4 good players they have and take the baby steps forward towards improvement. It won't happen in one offseason.
#2 - solidify the ground attack. They need a good #2 option to split carries with Moreno. If Tebow is their guy... and we know Fox loves to run, they need to build up in that area.
#3 - keep the WRs in tact, hope that guys like Decker can step up and that Royal and Thomas heal completely and early in the season. Then
GO GET AN ACTUAL PASS CATCHING TE - Scaife, Boss, M Lewis... they're out there.
Those are the 3 main areas and notice that I didn't really address the QB deal and whether or not it should be Tebow or Orton... it won't matter with EITHER of them, if they don't focus on those 3 areas.
